"Back when I was a Boy,we used to walk 20 miles to school in the snow 1 way".
You were lucky, I had to walk 20 miles each way uphill to school in the snow.

In that '79 snow my Z-28 didn't get moved for almost a week, I walked the 3 miles or so to work for several days.

richp. I'll be in the Orlando area from the 20th to the 24th, other than Old Town are there any cruises/shows worth making the drive to on the Atlantic side?

My Dad had a beater 55 Chevy in 67, 6 banger and a 3 on the tree...he called it Betsy......it was the only car getting down Harlem avenue the day after the blizzard...we went to Grams house to eat....people literally abandoned their cars in the middle of the stret...I have a pic somewhere of it but can't find it.

Here is a picture of another garage in the backround that fell victim of the 1979 blizzard, the whole roof just caved in and the sides blew out and that is a red 65-66 plymouth fury 2dr if I remember correctly that you see that was in there at the time and it suffered major damage as you could imagine. This picture was taken on the nw side of chicago after the storm and when the alleys were finally cleared out so we could get our cars out of garage. That is my 72 340 cuda daily driver at the time in the picture.

The sun came out and we moved the cars today. Roads weren't bad but we put a double cover on the Novas to avoid road dirt and drove slow. New shop is great with radiant heat and security system. Not quite big enough for the whole fleet but good for the winter. Drove the Berger over because we couldn't flat bed it. People just stare when when they see that car. Hope all you boys are doing well.

well they just forecasted 36-48 more hours of heavy torrential rain here in so calif.it's been raining very heavy since thursday night and the ground can't take anymore moisture.there's been numerous mudslides an rockslides all over the place especially in the hollywood hills area. earlier today about 4pm we had a torrential downpour for a half hour and the drains could not keep up with the deluge.our underground garage started to flood and my camaro ended up sitting in 1' of water.

you might want to find some high ground for your hot rod...if the weatherman is right that garage will probably fill up...

unfortunately that's the only place right now. we've got some pumps in the drains nearest the garage to help.also it is so humid in there with all the cinder block wall weaping and water seeping up thru the concrete floor.
