It was a dark gray foam. The domed screens were not chromed, as in the earlier post. It looked exactly as the one in your first post, although I can not see the tabs on the band in that photo. Verne |

The foam elements would tend to ignite,with a carb backfire if you didn't change them or clean them now and again --The elements were/are pretty cheap, but I would just take it out run it under a hose and squeeze out the excess--I never had one lite up--Here's some photos of those air cleaners----Stelling and Hellings--

I guess it depended what air cleaner they had on the shelf that day,although the Stelling and Helling was the earliest---Verne, I would never post your photo,I did however send copies to Team Chevelle etc.--

Yeah, by the time I stopped using it, I had my share of carb back fires, and the foam had a big hole in the middle of it.
