This is getting to be like a broken record, but I will throw it out there again. E-bay is bad for our hobby! It is the cyber platform for hucksters and con men. This internet auction site has created the perfect marketplace for deception and fraud. I'm glad there are so many watchdogs on this site, but I'm sad for those who don't know what is going on.

My suggestion: sell fairly, sell honestly and don't sell on E-bay.

Wilma

Don't you think the LS6 convert was a good way to sell ? Everybody had a chance to get it. There is plenty good about Ebay.

I just don't think the good out weighs the bad. Too many horror stories, misrepresentations and alike. Yes, there are legit deals, but I feel they are difficult to sort out from the other stuff. Maybe it's me, just an old fashioned gearhead trying to make it in "cyberland". Wilma

Obviously buyers must be very careful when buying on ebay. There are a lot of good deals on ebay. I was able to buy two NOS rear quarters for my Nova for less than what people wanted for one!

I respectfully disagree. People with the objective of conning someone else have been around forever. They'll always find a creative way.

Ebay itself is no different than the fairgrounds where you attend your next swap meet. It is the place, or source, for locating things. It's the PEOPLE that make or break the experience.

For those of us who may be located in the middle of nowhere without access to such places as Carlisle or some of those California swap meets, it has been a great source for locating hard to find parts that I'd never be able to happen across anywhere else. I have a lot of goodies stashed away for my Nova from Ebay deals.

As a seller, I've also helped other people get the parts that they need that they most likely wouldn't stumble across anywhere else. There's good out there and bad out there, and you just have to use your own educated judgement and God-given brains to sort out what you're dealing with.

Ebay isn't bad for the hobby...... scummy people are, and you'll find them everywhere. Doesn't matter whether you are in insurance, investing, advertising..... there are shysters and they'll find a way to operate and take your assets - be it cash or goods.

Projecting the impression that one major forum (Ebay) is the root of all automotive evil isn't exactly a fair and accurate statement. It all comes back to the people involved. Not everyone on Ebay is a crook. There are some, and we like to point them out to protect others. That's a good thing.

But, I haven't seen any messages commending the majority of good and honest folks that deal on there. I'd like to think of myself in that same catagory, but I can't help but feel like I'm being lumped in with the crooks by those statements. Because of that, I disagree with the generalization.
