Wow! Two Dans, a Dave and a Don! Don, they should sell "Lickety-Split"!!! I'd say some guys want them with original paint.....I'll wish you "Good Luck" with the sale, but you probably won't need it.

I believe that this has been discussed before, but does anyone know when Lakewood changed from the square bars to the rectangular bars? The reason that I am asking is that my Boss 9 had rectangular bars on it when I got it. The second owner (late 70s) said that they were on the car when he got it, but I haven't been able to confirm when the first owner put them on the car. If they would have been available in Oct '69 I think I'll clean them up and re-install them.

Bergy, it wasn't a running change. The square bars (from what I've read and been told) were for "racing only" applications. The rectangular style were more for "street/strip". I've got several sets of rectangular ones, but my car had the square style and that's why I wanted these.

Around 1971 or so Bruce. Many Speed Shops still had the square bars a little after that because they were still in their inventory.
1971 is a fair time frame in my opinion.

Catalog posted before by Dan R. Note t hy e square tube pic shows the early design with the twisted cleat J bolt bracket. Seems both square and rectangular were out in 1969 and like Sammy said- the square tube went out circa 1971.

Just wanna tell everyone that the bars arrived today. Don kept emphasizing just how nice they were, and BOY!!!! Was he right! He under promised and over delivered in a BIG way! These are too nice to use.......but I'm gonna anyway!!!!! I now have three sets of rectangular bars that I'll be offering here or elsewhere. I also have a friend who is in the preliminary stages of fabricating a set of square bars. if anyone has interest in the rectangular style shoot me s message and we'll chat.

I remember seeing traction bars for $20 bucks a set , guess I should start picking them up from now on , those square ones would dig into something on the street ..

Do the square ones contact the spring eye or are they short like the other bars ?

No , They are approximately 26 inches forward of the axle centerline (verical centeline). Pretty much The same as other's.

I remember swapping out old springs that were bent from the snubers hitting the springs ..
