I got my first 68 Biscayne in 1971. I was stationed at Offut AFB in Nebraska and found a real deal L72 427/425hp. 4 speed, 12 bolt 4.10 positraction 68 Biscayne. It was for sale at a local gas station for $1500 and I had just received a re-enlistment bonus. I had the car for two years and terrorized the streets of Omaha with it until circumstances caused me to sell it.
I have regretted selling that car more than any other I have owned. So, when opportunity came a long to relive those memories I had to jump.
This car is a clone or tribute to my original L72 car. It is close to the same color, original was Tripoli Turquoise, this one is Grotto Blue. It has a 454 .030 over with oval port heads, solid lifter CompCams 561 lift, 282 duration cam, Edelbrock Performer 2.0 intake and Holley 750 cfm vacuum secondary carb. It has a Muncie M21 and 12 bolt with 3.73 gears. It is an original V8 car and the date code on the 12 bolt indicates it could be original. I know almost nothing of the cars history. I bought it from a dealer in MN who bought it from an estate. He stated it came from Ohio and previous to that possibly Georgia. It has been a drag car, there are tow tabs welded to the frame. I am in the process of bringing it back to Day 2 shape, I have already changed the exhaust to a Pypes Street Pro system and will be removing the fuel cell in the trunk and installing a stock type gas tank soon. I look forward to participating here and gaining knowledge from all the resident expertise.
