There will always be two sides of a coin. The positive thing about collectors with big money is that they can afford a top notch restoration, which a supercar deserves. I´m not saying that the little guy can´t do it right, but it´s easier with lots of cash.

I feel for you. Most likely there will never be a next time, but if there is use an alias and a false location. You had posted your name in your profile and that's all an expert tracker needs to begin their search.

I hope no one from this site would stoop so low as to pull something like what happened here. As others have mentioned, if you locate something as desirable as a car like this, never give any info on the www until the car or whatever it is is in your garage. This is not the first time something like this has happened on this site.

It has happened to several people here not only on cars but parts as well and more often than not by lurkers and not members. Some people will do anything to make a buck including taking advantage of someone asking a question on a car or parts. You do have to be careful. Sad but true.

Raw deal for you, for sure. Not that you need to hear this again, but when there are possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars on the line, it's best to keep your cards to yourself.

I don't even see where the orig post said he was trying to buy it. Maybe someone found it without this site and made a good offer ? I'm also not sure why a big collector is not a car guy. I think it would be nice if the orig owner got top price for his car as opposed to it being bought cheap and flipped for big dollars because he didn't know values. Everyone seems to quick to judgement on this one.

There are also too many cars which have been purchased by a friend or acquaintance and then absolutely molested with bug bomb spray cans, reproduction crap everywhere, and quite often painted the wrong color in an effort to turn the car for a quick buck.
