I'm a parts flipper too, but I never put parts up for sale on this site. Any information I have or come across I'll gladly share with any one, and some of the info I gain from this site makes me better at what I do. The animosity towards parts sellers is exactly why I don't actively try to sell my items here. I believe that we are doing a large service even if it's just by posting pictures of rare items and taking some of the mystery out of what parts are (and or were) available. I know that some of you like to keep your knowledge close to the chest so that you will be in a better situation when it comes time to bid on an item and I can respect that. It's just not my style though.

Im still a newby here but I dont mind seeing this stuff, and its posted in the 'lounge' section so I take it as a kinda casual 'surfin the net, anything goes' deal.

I usually try to keep my feelings on this subject to myself, but yesterday things boiled over. After working in this heat every day with no AC, having a frustrating issue with a co-worker, then receiving some bad news from my doctor, it all erupted. Sorry if I hurt your feelings, but I still feel the same about some people who do little more in this hobby than buy & sell. It may just be me, but I can't change the strong feelings I have about that.

Verne,

I've seen you buy and sell since the 1980's when I first started going to the swap meets. You were just recently set up at the GM Nationals. What makes that any different than what a few regular guys post up on here?

I am not a paying member so you guys may not care what I think. That being said, the only parts sellers on here I have a problem with are the ones that only use the site to sell. Guys like Jason that post in other sections with info and try to help other members should be fine with using the site to sell parts. There are a couple guys here that only use this site and others like this to try to sell parts. I think one reason they list their parts here is because guys with $250K cars are usually willing to pay more for a part they need than a guy with a $25K car. JMO

Yep, that's the one swap meet I do each year. (once in a while E-town but not lately) I'm too old and unhealthy to finish projects I've bought parts for over the years, so they can go to someone else who can use them. I don't buy parts to flip them.

I was just giving a current example. Don't forget all of the Late Great shows and Spring Carlisle's back in the day that you used to set up and sell at when the 409 and 1958-1964 market was hot. If you can honestly say you never bought something at a swap meet or anywhere else to resell at a profit then I must have my eyes checked.

I didn't sell 409 parts; I kept them. This could go on and on, so let me just say that I am not in your league, Matt. Please don't persist in this silly comparison.
I have a hobby, I have cars and projects that I've owed for many many years that I intend to keep (not flip) and they need parts. I've never supplimented my income or counted on an income from selling parts. I've never gone through a swap meet with the intention of buying everything I could find that I could turn a profit on. I was looking for things I wanted for myself. If I happened to see something for $20. that I could sell for $50, I "might" have bought it to help offset my own expenses, or I might have just kept my money in my pocket because I was still looking for things I wanted for myself. My intentions and practices were/are very, very different from yours.

By the way, I remember you from those early days when you were at swap meets with your Dad (who did the same thing) when you were just out of diapers. You learned well. He can be proud of you.

PS: And I don't have a link at the bottom of all my posts to direct people to my ebay auctions.
