Damn, I enjoyed looking at the pictures, and don't care if its a 1 of 1 car or 1 of 11111 cars.

And you must admit, Ken is a pretty funny guy too who provided lots of entertainment.

I want to preface by saying this is my opinion. The subject matter was fine by itself. As it progressed to me it became beating a dead horse. As time rolled on Ken backed off and then others kept beating it. For the last month or so of the thread no tangible information was brought forth.

The last thread morphed into a personal joke/attack on one of our members and that's where it crossed the line. I have emailed and spoken to Ken regarding this issue and felt we were headed for calmer waters. Not sure if anything changed, but he is a good guy.

This site is about sharing common interests and having fun. No one was banned over the above incident. We are all grown ups lets move on to what brought us here the passion we have for these cars. We can agree to disagree and still have fun.

The wealth of information shared on this site is infinite, and that's because of you our members. Lets uncover another barn find.

Shauger summed it up almost perfectly, but lemme just add this...in the eyes of us moderators, this issue was never about whether the car was real/fake...honestly, I couldn't care less, I stopped caring after the 2nd thread was deleted back in December. The problem was the personal jabs & innuendo that continued (and still does), after a *private* appeal to simply "agree to disagree", and finally a public appeal to do the same...but when it continued, then it reflected on the moderators. And here's a newsflash folks: the personal conflicts of members in PMs/Emals/Phone Calls is beyond our control...why we should take responsibility for something we cannot control is beyond me, but we are. Also, no one was banned, or even asked to leave...it was their choice.

And here's my personal $.02...the thing that *really* bothers me here is the court of personal opinion hanging us out to dry, simply on the basis of *1* side of the story...how many of you bothered, or even cared, to see if their was another side to this coin? I'll tell you, other than my fellow moderators who were in the loop the entire time, I personally got 1 email asking for the real scoop and dad got 1 phone call...so apparently, folks had heard all they wanted to hear, which is certainly their prerogative, but not necessarily the "big picture".

Moderating this little sand box has gotten to be a real chore, and seems to get worse by the day, and it still amazes me anyone would even agree to take on the job when we ask them...and this may surprise some of you, but THIS IS NOT OUR JOB. The moderators all have 9-5s (or 24/7s in our case), and moderating a webpage is not what puts food on our tables...we're simply doing the best we can, and all we ask for in return is cooperation, and to ease up when asked, and work with us...if you can't do that, then well, we're gonna "moderate" and there's a chance you're not gonna like how it's gonna turn out, that's just the way it is, and you can either hate it, love it, or leave it...

I'll finish by saying "I agree" with what was said previously about Ken's knowledge and humorous relief in his posts...how and why we ever got to this point makes my brain hurt.

It gets lonely at the top sometimes...but judgements and calls have to be made....it's much better than an out of control forum..........I really didn't follow this particular discussion...but I know how far down the road some topics go even when they run out of gas 3miles back..........
Anyway, hope you guys can make nice and come back to the sandbox even if now and again somebody kicks sand in your eyes..........My hats off to the moderators who have to take their decisions on the chin now and again.....ADIOS.............

Does anybody really wonder why moderators tend to get burned out and fade away (we miss you Bob/BelAir62!)? I've been on this board for 10 years, and have always marveled how the Tom and Rob have kept it going when logistically its always been a P.I.T.A. This is one of the least politically edited websites I've seen that still has someone watching the discourse all the time.

The '37 thread, while very informative and properly placed into the LOUNGE, pretty much had to go, whether you think Ken's broad request asked for that or not. By opting not to finish out the postings of that build and not really explaining why, it would be left hanging there as a source of controversy and confusion, which is now THIS thread.

Hopefully Ken comes back and shares the great pictures of his builds and restorations. There's obviously a lot of love for the guy posted here. But if he wants to trade all that love for a pissing match with one or two guys, that's his choice. I'll miss the photos and writeups. Plus all the tech writing was slowly exorcising him of the "tendency" to employ far "too many" of those "extra" quotation marks. Which I appreciated.

I'm a member now, I'll be a member next year. Carry on moderators.

TOM

In retrospect........I've decided not to go into detail about what happened.....Nothing good would come of it and it would just create controversy for the "Best" car site on the net......It's Tom's Bat and Ball................Life go's on..............................
