I don't see anything wrong with the comments about the driver's speed and recklessness. He could have seriously injured someone else other than himself with the rate of speed that he was going. Thank god he did not hit a pedestrian or another vehicle.

Unless you have better information the ony thing being speculated on is a parts failure. If you have information on the speed and the recklessness please elaborate.

Whe I was in high school ('70's) 2 friends and I killed 5 Pontiacs.
A '69 RAIV GTO & a '72 GTO (Ritchie), a '70 Trans AM (Tommy), a '70 RAIV GTO Judge (Bill) and a '69 400 Convertibe Firebird & '78 Trans Am (me). I hit a tree in the front yard with the '69!.
It's a wonder there are any Pontiac left.

When I was 16 I had a 69 Chevelle SS probably in excess of 400HP, bias ply tires, two lane rainslicked roads, never once used the seat belts, no fear and little common sense. I always speculate that the only reason I didn't kill myself in that car was the lack of gas money and the fact that I blew it up doing burnouts during the homecoming parade when I was a senior. Lucky I didn't end up wrapping it around a tree, it was always tricky to pass without breaking loose on those wet roads.
