Nice! Reminds me of our dog we got from a rescue last March. She is a whippet/black lab mix and is still almost as thing as your greyhound. Our dog isn't as tall and long but she is still very fast. Good job getting a dog from a rescue, there aren't enough people willing to adopt a dog that isn't a puppy and it's a shame.

From what I have learned racing Greyhounds spend almost all of their time in a crate. Let out to go to the bathroom and when it is time to race. I suppose that it is a big business for some. If the dog races well he/she will go onto race for up to 5 years. Blaze's last race from what I can find was last May 14, 2008 but sometimes races don't get updated.

You would think that the breed would be angry after all of that. It is completely the opposite. He is so timid and kind. He went from 40 mph to couch potato in no time When I take him to our large back yard he reminds me of a track star. He first stretches the front legs then the back. Begins to jog then lets it go full throttle with a bust of speed.

Were taking him in tomorrow to meet our vet and get a wellness exam. He did have all of his shots and teeth cleaned just before we got him from the adoption agency. The Greyhound adoption people are really amazing. My hat goes off to all of those volunteers that help get these great dogs placed with families.

Get him a bunny rabbit for Easter. I'm sure that he'll love you for it.

Congratulations on your new Greyhound.

Do you have a two level home? If so will he climb the stairs to the second level?

I ask because my sister in-law adopted two, one goes by the name "Skiddy Octane" and the other one which was not raced "Zack".

Skiddy will not climb the stairs to the second level . She is very happy with both of them.

Blaze does not seem interested and has not tried to go upstairs yet. I don't think he has been trained to do it. The new home we are trying to complete will have a downstairs basement, and a second story (more stairs). I was thinking about getting baby gates when the time comes when we move.

Karen is wanting to get another Greyhound someday. From what I have read they like the company of another. How long has your sister in law had Skiddy Octane and Zack?

Please post a video....I'd love to see him streching and warming up then when he's ready getting set in the blocks and waiting for the starter pistol(or the sound of your voice).

You need to take him to the dog park and let him pump up his chest and strut his stuff. Parallels the feeling we get on the way to the local cruise!

gb70, IIRC she lost her golden about 3 1/2 yrs. ago and decided to go in a different direction in regards to the breed of dog.

The first (Zack) was adopted about 3 yrs. ago, about a year later she adopted Skiddy.

The dogs have been together for 2 yrs. now and you couldn't separate them, my sister in-law just loves both of them.

Sorry Rubbin I hit wrong RE, still getting used to this board.

I was thinking the same thing. We just got another inch of snow and more is in the forecast but once it dries up I will get some footage. I need to find a really big fenced yard where he can hit top speed. They have been recorded going 40 mph! I like the way he handles the corners, it's like the side of him is on a race bike! He leans into it and accelerates out of the turn. Fun to watch. The scary thing is when I tell him to slow down as he approaches the back porch cement. The other day I had some ice on it and I don't want him to lose control, then crash and burn
