Hi Tommy
Welcome to the best site out there.
I have not studied those first SS big chevies much, but every time I see one it makes me
Those first SS cars , to me, were the start of it all. Maybe it is a age thing, I think they are the Holy Grail of all SS Chevies to follow.
And yes, .....WE LIKE PICTURES ALOT...

Mike

Hey guys,
Thanks for the warm welcome. This seems like a really great site and I see some familiar names. Verne is a very special freind, not just a car freind but someone who I will forever be thankful too because he was there for me when I lost a loved one.
Verne mentioned my dream collection....that being to own a '61 Chevrolet, '61 Ford and a '61 Pontiac, all with the biggest motor available. I have been working on this dream for the past 10 years or so and will post photos of my cars later but I must admit that I have no idea how to do that but will figure it out. I don't have access to the photos until I get home tonight.
As I said, I like the early muscle cars and presently own two 1961 Impala SS's, both are the real thing and yes, one is a 409. The one with the 409 is a factory built Super Sport but was originally a 348/350 horse car. Actually, Verne located this car for me, it was just a body, no motor or transmission. A few years ago I was lucky enough to find a '61 409 motor that was complete from carb to oil pan and that motor is in the SS. It's a Midnight Blue car, was just completed early this summer and was displayed for the first time this year in the Invitational area of the G.M. Nationals.
The other SS is white with red interior, a 348/305 4 speed car that was sold new in my hometown of Chester, Va, it was bought new and owned by the same gentleman until 1996 when I purchased it from him. This car is documented by orginal paperwork from the day of sale, said to be one of the most original SS's still around. Original motor, trans, carb, starter, gen., shifter etc. The old man never replaced anything, just had stuff rebuilt. The car still has the grease in the transmission that the factory put in it! This car is presently on loan to Floyd Garrett's Musclecar museum.
My other cars are a 1961 Ford Starliner 390/401 4 speed. This is an original "hipo" 390/375 horse, 3 speed car with the dealer installed 3x2 setup and the 4 speed transmission. My lastest car completes my "dream collection", I bought the '61 Ventura 425A 4 speed car that was discussed on this site back in July. Verne made me aware of this car also (the money this man has cost me!!!!!!)
Photo's later.
Tommy

I saw Tommy's White '61 at Floyd Garrett's place in July this year. NICE!

I can put up a couple of pix this evening if Tommy hasn't done it by then.

Welcome aboard Tommy. And Verne, there may be more than a couple of folks interested in Early Muscle,............. especially those old truck motored bowties.

Thanks, I'm going by there next week on the way to an AACA show in Tn., looking forward to it, I haven't seen the car since last October.

I forgot, Floyd has another of my cars...the red '66 427/425 Impala that is in the museum is a car that I owned and restored back in the nineties, I sold it to a gentleman from Fla., it changed hands again last year and Floyd wound up with it.

Tommy,
When you get ready to post some pics of your cars on another forum, let me know if you want me to post a few for you. I have plenty of good shots of your cars, you know. (except the Poncho)

As for me costing you so much money, I guess the next time I confirm there's a real '61 SS available that's not complete and needs some body work, I'd better not tell you huh?

Tell you what........the next time we go out to dinner, I'll buy your pizza. That should make it up.............

Verne
