This was before the mirror was fixed. (I actually broke it on accident a year and a half earlier while washing it. Was using a long handle brush on the windows and accidentally hit the glass on the mirror.)

Anyone know when 1968 production started? VIN states it was built in the 3rd week of July. Not sure if that's July of 67 or 68.

September of 1967 is when production started for 68 models. Your grandfathers is July of 1968. Very late build car.

Does he still have the original owners manual?

Unfortunately no. We've got almost no documentation.

Which part of the VIN is the production number? Or serial.

Is the engine block and heads original? Get a pic of the pad on the passenger side front of the block just below the head.
