Been working on the Supercar Reunion this afternoon.
As in the past, I have made arrangements for the Collinsville Holiday Inn to serve as the host hotel, the show to be at the Collinsville Gateway Center and drag racing at nearby Gateway International. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005- meet and greet in hotel parking lot. This has become an event in its self. Lots of beer, snacks and BS. And, first chance to see the supercars. Friday, Sept. 2, 2005-drag racing, move-in for indoor show, banquet. As usual, we will have a a couple of special guests (TBA) on hand to fill us in on how it was in the "good old days". Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005-indoor supercar show and outdoor musclecar crusie-in. As we did last year, we have reserved all of the available space at the center, and besides filling the center hall with supercars, we are working on a special display or two. This year at the track, we hope to add and/or expand a couple of things. 1. Yenko Deuce Shootout #2, open to all 1970 Yenko/COPO Deuces. 2. Nostalgia drag car shootout, for vintage drag cars. 3. It looks like the Factory stock/FAST guys will be attending again this year. 4. TBA. Stay tuned. As he did last year, Bob McClurg, a freelance photographer, will be attending SCR8. So far, Bob's handy work at SCR7 has appeared in Chevy Rumble and Drag Racer Magazine, with coverage of the event scheduled to be in the March issue of Super Chevy, and several cars to be in the various issues of Super Chevy's Nova, Chevelle and Camaro bi-annual publications.
