This is one of , if not the best forum on the site.......great cars, pics and editorial.

One thing though.....what gives with over 90% of the ZL2 fresh air hooded cars from top restorers and expert car enthusiasts doing with the air cleaner seals upside down,inside out or Both ???
The small end lip goes on the a-c base, glued down, Not Up to seal the hood !!!!
These look hideous applied wrong and OPENS a Can of Worms on the Rest of these "Expert High Dollar" Restorations...... geez, ...... I've been wanting to comment on this since the first one popped up......and now, there's double digit cars done this way as seen here.

Again, I love MRAYS POSTS and appreciate his passion for these cars and Sharing his incredible library with us.

All of these dark green cars just look so much better than they did back in the 70's and 80's when they were just dated old cars. Everyone wanted to change the green ones to any color but green, but now I'd love to own a dark green one.

I've got a soft spot for green cars, as I learned to drive in a '69 Malibu 2-dr hardtop, frost green, med greed interior, dark green top.

Frost green is a great color on the right car (as is fathom Green).

Back then, everyone wanted to junk the green interior for black. Same is true with almost any other color interior. Today I find myself appreciating the gold/green/blue, etc interior cars more. Black vinyl is boring.

Mark, you hit the nail right on the head.

I visited Carl Dwiggins in 1987 at his invite and had the pleasure of a guided tour, show n tell for the better part of the day.... of his massive inventory of muscle car Chevys.
I say inventory as opposed to collection as he was a dealer, a restorer broker who sold his cars on high market and was solely profit oriented.

With that said, every orange black,red,yellow ,blue or silver color changed car was either one of the 2 shades of green (frost &amp; fathom) along with burnished brown or any other undesirable colors of that period.
Verbatim, his motto was ,green &amp; brown make great primer for red,orange, black,yellow and LeMans Blue !
A used car seller of &quot;eyeball&quot; and &quot;eye candy&quot;
He also had Great insight into the volume of green cars available to buy for less money because of the colors weak market.and also acquired better cars because of it.
Another major theme he had was buying badly rusted or wrecked desirable cars that were fairly complete and rebody them in restoration. (keep in mind in the early to mid 80's the reproduction sheet metal was mostly limited and or junk compated to todays parts and clean cars or rollers were easily attainable at modest prices.) He neved shyed away in stating openly which ones were rebodied or sectioned)
He spoke of &quot;saving them&quot; from total demise in the crusher or parts dismantling.
By the way, he had well over 150 units in various states...80+ totally rotisserie restored or original pedigrees. The others were in various shops, storage or nearing completion.

Resale Red was the theme for decades before him and now, decades later....just as Black isn't a Color, its a &quot;Life Style&quot;...

#104. This COPO Camaro was sold new at Central Chevrolet - Oldsmobile in London Ontario. It is VIN #N648156 and order #NOR297484. It has a TH400 with the shift lever on the column. It was advertised as a numbers matching car.

They have to be turned inside out,before they can be installed upside down too,like on the fathom green car.
I call them inside/upsides.

The last two shown are not upside down hood seals. They just don't lay out like normal. When you see the upside down ones they are really obvious.
