The passenger side wheel well had a similar situation but not as bad, I was able to drill out the spot welds separate the three pieces of sheet metal, and grind between each piece with a carbide Burr in a die grinder...... I am not restoring this to flip it:-)

This is how pretty it looks before I weld it back together, clamped up with vise grips for now.

Tedious work. Keep at it. It starts to get real fun just around the corner.

My car came new with buckets no console. (and I really like this)

I bought the top plate as I love the look of the 1969 Cutlass/442 console and it was available:-)

I have three transmissions, three different shifters, and two or three different boots, so it seems I should have console and no console options:-)

I want to modify the tunnel and hump for all these different options ahead of time, and hope the console will work with the RamRod.

I can imagine the RamRod would look pretty cool hanging out of the original console:-)

Ryan

PS: The console base is quite expensive repop so I hope to find a broken inexpensive base (unwanted) to repair.

A console hides all that is Muscular and Beautiful of a vintage shifter such as a Ram Rod, JMO. Plus, a non console car is just that much more unique and special.

I love the buckets no console big time but love the idea of switching it up:-)

I can use the RamRod with the Red H boot and no console too.

Not sure how the hole in the carpet will line up with each option so I will probably cut the hole to match the original set up and see if that will be ok?

PS: I picked up some sheet metal after work to make little patches:-)
