You can run them on the street, but the ride is noticeably stiffer. Also, I have the Mr. Gasket set, they are a bit too wide and will hit your frame rails when the car squats. You will need to grind about a 1/4" off the ends that face the c/l of the car - both sides, ie; all 4 plates!

I have the spring clamps on my 69 RS/SS and it is a good bit stiffer for daily driving. They're off in 5 minutes so no big deal.

I've been running a set of DH clamps on my 68 for a few years now. I use them with the Lakewood bars..What a difference. The car hooks harder and goes straighter...

The clamps will be going on shortly, noticed the front end of the leafs are a bit "tweaked" already, going with the DH method. Anybody use an aftermarket pinion/front of diff. snubber,? seems the factory one ain't cuttin it and some marks are being on left on the floor pan above the rear U joint. Thanks for the tips/pics. SULLY

Maybe if you took your right foot out of the "water pump" you wouldn't damage so much hardware

The spring clamps will help with the shaft to floorboard issue. On one of my first runs down the strip, I noticed that the car was 'settling' at the big end - enough for the shaft to just lightly rub the floor board. Stronger springs, some clamps, some wedges, or a snubber would all work.

Like M said, the clamps should help subdue axle wrapup, and keep the floor safe...if the front portion of the leafs can't bend/seperate, then the axle itself can't move...unless it moves within the u-bolts!
