Look very closely at the listing, buy it now and reserve fees. Very often $0.01 can be a couple of dollars. Example: a starting price of $49.99 vs $50.00 may have a listing fee difference of a dollar or two. You can play with this on the last step before you "submit" to start the auction.

The shipping calculator that Ebay has is quite often way off, especially on larger or heavy items. Use the UPS, USPS or Fedex online calculator.

I wouldn't pack your items right after you have already listed them on Ebay either.
I sometimes ask sellers a detailed question, only to have them reply that they don't know because the item is boxed up and sealed, waiting for the auction to end.

Good pictures are a must. Be honest with the description. Auctions with no reserve and low starting bids seem to get more bids. I start all auctions at 99 cents with no reserve.

That can be dangerous. I don't run a business on Ebay but I do get rid of stuff I no longer need. I used to follow the no reserve low price policy and it used to work pretty good. Lately, things don't seem to be moving as fast or bidding that high unless you have something very nice and very rare. But that is just my experience. To save on reserve auction fees you could just start the bidding at the minimum price you would sell the part at.

What I would certainly do is go to Fedex.com and set up my own shipping account. You can then print your own prepaid ground shipping labels at home and then all you have to do is drop the package off at a Fedex location. It is a real hassle standing in line and paying for freight. It is also much cheaper with your own account.
