Default Frank Arone's "Blue-ti-ful" Z/28!!

Ken Pascoe found this car for me about a year and a half ago, after telling him that I was looking for a good 70 Z for driver to go to local shows and cruises.

This is an LA build car that the original owner from Southern California, where it had been since new, sold to his nephew in Maine in September of 2001. It has a super nice all original sheet metal body that had original paint, with only some minor touch up work done on it. It also had a 3 piece rear spoiler added to it, which really bothered me. The car had headers installed on it, but the original exhaust manifolds, complete smog system, and even the cut of pieces from the original head pipes were in the trunk.

After driving the car last summer (2004), I stored it for the winter, and then decided to give it the paint job that it deserved when I got it out this spring. I figured that it would only take a few weeks, but it took 5 months. Caleb and I removed the original interior, as well as all of the glass, which we reused, except for the carpet. I replaced the complete grille, including the chrome surround and divider bar, headlight bezels, parking lamp assemblies, weatherstrips, rocker moldings rear hood molding and emblems with NOS parts. Thanks Ebay... All of the other chrome was replated. We pulled off the front sheet metal, detailed the rad support and inner fenders. I tried to clean up the subframe, but it washed off to bare metal, so out came the engine and transmission, as well as the subframe and it all got detailed to the max. You know how it snowballs. The original tie rods and ball joints are still in the car. The only suspension parts needed were the control arm bushings. Not bad for 96,000 miles. I also installed a new Gardner exhaust system.

I have all of the original paperwork for this car, the window sticker, protecto-plate, build sheet, original bill of sale, loan contract, service receipts thru the year 2000, and engine rebuild receipt with all GM parts. Now this car gets the attention that it deserves and is a real blast to drive.

Thank You, Frank Arone
