Default Re: Help on '67 Camaro VIN

It is not a numbers matching car. I bought the car from my dad about a year ago and I never worried about transfering the title since it was not road worthy. Now that I am looking to sell it, he is looking for the title. For that reason I don't know what the VIN says on the title.

Jason, how is the Vin tag attached on the post? I tried to increase the size of the picture, but all it did was make it unreadable. Maybe someone with the right program can do that. Sam?

It is sideways (vertical) with the clover shaped rivets. I am wondering if maybe it was in an accident and someone replace that post. The title would still reflect the original VIN unless it was inspected and changed by the state. Is there a way to do a VIN check like Mopars can that will tell you what it came with and where it was sold?

Yes, right now the best bet is to find that title, and you will have your answer. You only live about 4 hours from me, if I lived closer, I would drive over and look at the 67 of yours.

6 Clyinder VIN with a SS 350 Trim Tag. Non matching Partial VIN is a bad sign as well.

1 = Chevrolet
2 = Camaro
3 = 6-cylinder engine
37 = coupe body
7 = 1967 model year
N = Norwood, OH assembly plant
138511 = vehicle serial number sequence

Decode for body number: 084206

02E = Built the Fifth week of February.
67-12437 = Standard Interior Coupe.
NOR = Built in Norwood Ohio.
741 = Standard Red Bucket Seats.
Z = (A50) Strato Bucket Seats (without headrests).
C-C = Car Color is Ermine White
D = Interior paint is Red
Options:
2L = (M20) 4-speed floor shifter
2G = (D55) Console front compartment
3L = (Z22) Rally Sport Package
4P = (L48) SS 350 or (L30) 327-275H
5B = (V32) Rear Large Bumper Guards

<font color="blue"> The Partial VIN from the Cowl Vent matches the Build date of the Trim Tag. I would say the VIN has been swapped</font>
<font color="red"> February 1967 181083 185266 </font>

I noticed that we didn't live far from each other.

I played with the image, lets see if this is better.

It has an M20 in it now but I didn't think that the numbers were right. When I decoded it, it said it was a '69 tranny. I should just post all the numbers, engine encluded and see what you guys come up with.

That build date sounds good since they are in the same range as each other. I too wonder when the VIN was produced.
