Hello...don't know for sure, but when I worked for Cliff E., I often wondered if a particular X 66 Yenko was the Hedrick car. This particular Yenko was rescued from a location somewhere in Florida and Cliff got the car restored. Years later it was sold to Peter Klutt at what was then, "The Shelby Shop", later known as "Legendary Motorcars". He was brokering the car. We never knew for sure if this was Hedrick's car and really, I assume, Cliff didn't want to know. A similar situation occured when Gary H. bought a Yenko from Cliff and then, found out it was the "Preston - Lawrence" race car. There wasn't much said from Cliff about this. So I guess my point is Cliff could have had the Hedrick car and not seen any point in knowing for sure.

Mike, I do not think Cliff ever had the Hedrick car.

You see, once I became friends of the gang there at Cliffs, he had me register all of his Yenkos. But, at this time, only a couple of folks had seen the Yenko inventory sheet with Ed's car on it. Well, once I, and a couple of others got to see this sheet and a couple of others, there was the notation about the Hedrick car, as well as the Preston-Lawrence car, and two Gold demo cars. Cliff at one time owned three of the four special cars. Two Gold demo cars, as well as the Preston-Lawrence car. But, the sad part, Cliff had sold the unrestored Gold car to Randy Miller and the Prestion-Lawrence car to Holub before Brian Henderson discovered this information and told Cliff. Worse yet, at least for me, I had the chance to puchase either car. In fact, I had narrrowed down my choice to either the one I bought or the Preston-Lawrence race car. Of coruse, I had no idea that the "other" car was the former P-L car, as it had been restored as a nice driver.

Tom, the saddest of all sad stories is why I didn't make all those unrestored cars "My" collection. The prices for those unrestored Yenkos was between 18 to 20K. That includes the second gold car. What a huge mistake on my part. But, as the saying goes, "If ya ain't got it, it don't matter what the asking price is".

They say hindsight is 20-20, and boy is that true. When I was looking to purchase a Yenko from Cliff, he priced about 15 to me, ranging in price from $18,000 for a unrestored Yenko Camaro to about $60,000 for a fully restored one. Just the other day I told Cliff I should have bought them all. If only I had had the vision, and of course the $$$.

Oh well, thanks to Cliff, Mark and you, I was able to buy the one I have now and have had a blast ever since.

Hopefully the Hedrick car will surface, as well as, many others.

Reckon he'd be up to making a pass or 3 in our DY Yenko Camaro? Probably a lot *tamer* ride than what he's used to, especially since ours is a slush-box (auto) car...

The Hedrick car was crashed when it jacknifed in a flat towing accident and bashed the quarter. The person that did the repair fixed it and painted the stripe back on, even though Ed Hedrick had a tape replacement. He bought the car right from Yenko. Grump worked on the car during the week. Ed told me it was his best car ever and should have never sold it. It has not been found, but it has been searched for. There is a trail. I could never figure out why Cliff would sell the real PL race car and the other gold Demo Yenko. He built a race car from one of his other cars and had the real drag car all along. Why he was never told this is a mystery to me. somebody dropped the ball on those two cars. The other demo car is finishing up and is going to be painted in a few days. It will make the SCR if not this year, next. A real neat car...BKH
