Charley,
With Henry being the shrewd business man he was, I'm surprised he would have wasted so much metal on that extra long battery hold-down. I guess as a 1 of 1, he didn't lose that much.
I have to agree though, it's not a Dark side journey when referring to this car. Don't ever tell anyone I said this but there are even some interesting Mopars still hangin' around.
Cool Snake/Horse!

Charley, here is a photo of another long lost Shelby, this is the day I brought it home from a warehouse from sitting since 1969. This was Team Shelbys 1968 #2 Trans Am GT-350 Notchback with the one year only 302 Tunnel Port engine, it was raced white, then yellow, then blue its last three races. It is currently undergoing a full correct restoration and will be running in the Vintage circuit this year. It is the only Ford I own other than a work truck, but I couldnt resist the history or the opportunity to run the real race tracks, so alas, a true Chevy lover breaks down, I guess we all have a weak moment at some point in our life.Motown

That is one beautiful car. Like someone said, a Shelby Mustang sounds, looks and runs better than an ole Ford. So you haven't crossed over the line yet.

What would the difference be between yours and lets say the Gt 350 or was that a 500 from Gone in 60 Seconds?
Another awesome Stang.

Thanks... A normal GT350 has either a 289 or 351 and is rated at 306 or 290 hp. A Normal GT500 has a 428 that is rated at 335-355 hp. Mine from what I have read so far makes anywhere from 520 - 650 hp. If you wanna see more of the car, go to comfortcarconnection.com. On the main page there is a Link to watch a 1967 Movie with Carroll Shelby driving it at the Goodyear test track in San Angelo Texas, testing Thunderbolt tires. He takes the Editor of Time Magazine for a ride in the car. It is a very Cool part of the cars History. They set a Record, going 500 miles at a Average speed of 142 mph. According to books, Carroll reached 170 at one time. Also on that web page in the cars for sale area you can click on the pic of the SuperSnake and see a bunch of pics and the Shelby Invoice.

Charley,
That's a beauty - and a cool video too! Did Shelby have to beat the shock towers to get that 427 to fit? I know those Mustang engine mays were a tight fit for big block Ferds...
So where can you find a set of Goodyear Thunderbolts?
-Sam

The 427s and 428s do fit between the stock shock towers of the'67-'68 Mustangs. It is the Boss 429s which were very wide at approx. 30 inches which needed a bit of help getting shoe horned into the 1969-1970 cars.

Clill,
I believe that your Shelby is the only 1967 Documented to have had a 427 installed by Shelby American, Inc.

I checked the Shelby World Registry which has info on Super Snake on page 615. All the Shelby invoives for the 1967 Cars were found and they show a total of only three cars with 427 engines and only two of the three with the GT40 spec 427 ever produced by Shelby American. Inc.

I may have some paperwork on that 427 car, I will watch for it while I am digging through the pile. Motown
