Some folks really love that color. My friend that sold me my triple black 69 camaro L78 he had forever, also had an evening orchid 65 L79 Chevelle convertible with white interior (I think he told me it ended up in texas). He loved that car and color. From him I learned a bit about how to identify an L79 which was cool (I think one item was the front sway bar).
He actually ordered his 2002 ZL1 (berger?) camaro in that evening orchid color. It actually turned out pretty cool, I almost bought it when he had to sell it, but thought it was just too different. It was scary fast, it was a blast to drive, felt like the front end came off the ground! I am sure people talk about that car (I think it had 650 HP on the hood sticker) when it gets shown with that color!!! Last edited by black69; 02-24-2026 at 05:35 PM. |

I found the car my friend ordered new, in that color. His love for the 65 he once had, influenced his color choice on this.

My cousin's husband was the original owner of this car's identical twin. May have been the first 396 car I ever laid eyes on..

If we're talking special order Evening Orchid Camaros, the '69 z/28 has to be tops, but that ZL1 is right behind it - thanks for posting.

Ignore the stickers and the engine, this air cleaner came off a '66 impala 396-325hp auto car. I believe it's the same as the '65. The snorkel is shorter than a sb version and is somewhat flat whereas the sb version angles upward. It's also just slightly oval, where the 427 has a much larger oval snout.
