Applying for title on Cale's 55 was also pretty simple. We bought that without any title. About $300 and a couple page form filled out got us a clean and clear legal title in my name in 30 days.
IF the PO had used the vin instead of info off the trim tag, this would never have happened. In talking with this last DMV person, she revealed the original title was court ordered and didn't go thru a DMV office, which probably explains why it wasn't caught at that time. I still think with the MN taxpayers, having spent over 200 million to get an undated, properly working title and license program, it should have caught the 12 digits instead of 13 for 1970. According to my son, who now does titling work for a dealership, and the lady at the last DMV, if the state titling computer doesn't detect 17 digits, it automatically declines the transfer, but they can still override the decline and enter a vin manually and it will accept it. Doesn't seem like we got everything that system should be able to do for the amount of money spent.

That's very good news. Must have been something with titles last week as I had one show up in the mail as well for one of my pickups

Originally white with Black vinyl top and interior. Leaning towards a modern bright Blue tint body with the 1970 Pearlescent interior. Of course, I may not live long enough to see that happen, since these restorations take me 7-10 years...
I couldn't recall if it had stripes, so dug out the Vintage docs and sure enough, it was on of those "stripe delete" cars, with no D88 option on the build sheet...
