Love the pinstripe whitewalls with the ET mags. Is that rear licence plate panel custom? It looks a little different than the OE ribbed aluminum panel.

It must just be the lighting. It's an original panel.
As it was found.

Ok... guess it was just the picture.

A '62 SS is one of my bucket list dream cars. I helped my Dad restore a '63 when I was younger, and I fell in love with 61-64 Impalas. '62 is by far my favorite (with '63 in second place).

Well Mike, I have lots of pics of it as I got it, with the mold on the seats, etc. Then there's lots of it being taken apart, and some of the engine work and engine compartment work. It's still a work in progress so there aren't many pics that look "good".
I don't feel right cluttering up this Day-2 thread with a lot of those photos but here are a couple overall shots. The first thing I did when it got home was give it a good bath with hot water. I ran the hose into the basement connected to the set tubs and just rinsed it down thoroughly before using any soap. It hadn't seen the light of day or any water for 13 years. The owner had it painted in 1979 with lacquer and a lot of clear - pretty special for the times.
Extracted from its tomb, loaded for home.

This one is obviously after the engine was removed. some time later.

Looks like an old Richard Rawlings from Gas Monkey Garage running the roll back! Love the car!

Thanks Marlin. That's my good friend, Lil' Joe from over 34 years who supplied his roll back. Little did we know that the Parkway was off limits to him, so after an abusive encounter with a NJ cop, he got a hefty fine (which I paid).

This shows about 1/2 the junk we had to remove from the garage that was behind the car, after we pried the door loose to get it open.
Verne

IT was a tight fit in there. The two front tires were flat so I had to put on some rollers I brought to pull it out.
