NONE! I ran A/Bracket in the early 70's at Maple Grove. Sometimes I ran C/MP and went 11.50's @ 119. That was my best. Besides, I am not old enough to be "vintage" yet Paul.

That is pretty fast Sammy! I never did much more than Friday night grudge races, though the HighSchool Challenge at the Grove was my 1st, slowest yet favorite event. I'll have to get some VHS vids converted.

Still have the time cards somewhere. Was a LT-1 with stock pistons and an old Engle Roller cam from my buddies race car. Had 4.88's with a 4 speed in it but needed more gear. had to weigh 3,250 to run Small Brute eliminator. Had a pair of the original angle plug heads on it I bought from Shaws Speed Shop in about 1972 or so. 750 DP and a Tarantula intake rounded it off.

This was a good show in its infancy, even Benny made a cameo with his silver COPO! It was neat to back the Deuce into line on the main drag strip - or what was left of it. The only local show better than this was the old Prysuski's cruise - eh Paul?!

I certainly had a blast! I went there with my 3 yr old son. We trailered my dad's Nova just to be safe cause I wasn't looking for any drama. Although I was busy with my son and have very few pics of the show, we had a great time. Ended up running into a lot more people I knew, surprisingly.
There were enough genuine nostalgic cars to keep the vintage vibe strong. There were also plenty of cars built in a period theme, though without real history behind them. My only real criticism is that there is not real pre-registration so the field of cars was pretty random. If they could have grouped the cars better, it would have been that much nicer. The swap area was small, but I still found this NMW safety loop. I thought it was cool since it was orange, where several NOS ones I've seen in different color boxes have all been bare steel. Just from my exposure to all things NMW, I am certain this is original paint from the manufacturer. I also have a guy buy the NMW shirt off my back! I guess I need to do another run of those. ![]() ![]() It was a shame I was't able to talk to the owner of this car. I've heard the Bash cars were all yellow. When my Dad's Nova had the big block in it, it was sponsored by Bash. Originally I thought Bash had something to do with the swap, but the original owner said he basically got a discount and some parts for the name. ![]() |

Very nice Paul! Dads car looked great at the show with the slicks and Cragars...looked right at home.
Son looks to be having fun as well. Glad you had a good time and were able to get dads car there too. Next time have dad drive it up! Dave 67 Nova Boy |
