Good point Rick. I tend to forget that GM (in their infinite wisdom ) discontinued the L-78 early in the year.

I stand corrected.

they said 19 L78 convertibles?

that leaves 18 others ...

hard to imagine one existing with the original drivetrain not known ...

I would imagine IF one were to surface the costs associated with a. purchasing it and b. restoring it would exceed whatever this one will bring ... and it is neat that it has no stripes too ...

This is for a private collector and not intended to be flipped so the end cost is not a deciding factor. However, he wants one restored correctly and has asked that we restore one for him as opposed to finding one done. Since I am currently doing an LS6 for him we would like to find another car to do for him. He and I both know that an L78 or LS6 convertible is likely not going to happen so that is why he is open to an LS5 which is almost as hard to locate. Funny thing is, since running this ad many previously unknown LS6 convertibles have been offered to me, none of which are proving to be real. Go figure.

Rick
Thats pretty sad with what is going on in the hobby with all these faked out cars.
I blame Chevrolet for not keeping there records.
Could you imagine if Chevrolet had Historical records like Pontiac and Ford does.
This BS would not exist.
With Chevrolet you have to really do your homework or hire a a guy like Rick himself to see if the car is real.
Good luck in finding a real deal car for your client.

I have said it many times before so buyers beware, I look at 10-12 LS6 Chevelles for clients around the country every year and on average 10 of them are fake and many new ones crop up every year! It really sucks to spend a clients money only to tell them the car is fake though they see it quite differently as I just saved them a lot of money. Once in awhile it is nice to look at a real car and decide on a value to the buyer can negotiate and purchase the car. Those trips are enjoyable. Now if I could only find the right LS5 convert to go look at........

It is very discouraging to relay the news that their "find" is not what it is supposed to be... however I am happy they haven't purchased some of the crap I have examined.

Still looking! Will pay finders fee for the right car. Just not interested in an already restored car unless it is an older restoration and priced accordingly.

Sam, no clue. Everyone grumbled it was a fake. I don't know about that, but even a Buick guy can see napa alternator, wrong pulley, rusty rattle canned gas tank.no smog, wrong intake, carb & air cleaner on and on... It would take Rick and 100K + to straighen it out.
It did have chalk marks

( sorry for the intrusion Rick).
