Man, I'm in love that black '70 Z-28 without the stripes. I'd like it even more if didn't have that Firebird rear spoiler and instead had the small one-year only spoiler. They look so much better with the short one.

Went to a cruise and saw it today. Approached the owner and he acknowledged it was a stripe delete car - says so right on the data plate! Then he pointed to the 71 71 code. ![]() ![]() [/ QUOTE ] wow, it is also the rare rear bumper guard delete "option" too ....

I assume bumper guards were not standard, so I don't know where the sarcasm is coming from? Or am I missing something?

I believe bumper guards were standard on all 69 Z/28's.

It is possible that "- -" would indicate stripe delete for 69 and possibly up to 71. Then in 72 trim tags were coded to reflect striping. My 72 Z28 was Mulsanne Blue with blue interior and coded DX3 = Stripe Delete. Also a no spoiler car.. Hoping I'll get this car back some day, Joe?

Wasn't aware bumper guards were part of the package. Why did they do that?
