Re: 67-68 Hi-perf Z28, L78 5 Blade/4 Rivet fan
That's ok, I wasn't sure if my price was out of line or not. I'm curious to know also what some minor differences may be.

Re: 67-68 Hi-perf Z28, L78 5 Blade/4 Rivet fan
Rick's pricing is in line with the market. I just bought one for the same price, which is high but what decent parts aren't? the difference in this fan and other 5 blade, 4 rivets is: a 3.25in bolt pattern vs. 3in normal; a 2 5/8" diameter fan clutch hole. These blades were used due to higher rpm on the Zs and L78s.

Re: 67-68 Hi-perf Z28, L78 5 Blade/4 Rivet fan
Good question, I don't know anything about vette fans, just what I read about these fans and that they were only used on camaro z28 abd L78. I know these are a specific part number, would have to go check, so what part number is the vette? Would GM have two diff part numbers for same part depending on vehicle???

Re: 67-68 Hi-perf Z28, L78 5 Blade/4 Rivet fan
Unfortunately I have no books to check the vet part number for the fan may be someone else can assist there. I do know the vet used the same DG water pump pulley as the 67/68 Z 3770245 since I just sold a NOS one to a vet guy for his small block and he was real interested for me to search through my fans.
Also I think we had a 68 l-72 and a regular 68 396 350 hp with this fan (3871276). I remember looking for a replacement clutch unit for the 396 and the replacement ones would not fit the fan blade but the one off the 68 l-72 worked. We don't need 3000 dollar fans currently running on or put away for old 68 BB , if that is possible. |

Re: 67-68 Hi-perf Z28, L78 5 Blade/4 Rivet fan
My untouched 67 L78 June Norwood has this fan but with 3" clutch mounting bolt circle. Yes, I'm positive. Any known untouched 67, 68 L78 cars with 3 1/4" circle??

How accurate this this data??? http://www.camaros.org/coolingsystems.shtml [/ QUOTE ] This info is the same as stated in MacNeish's '67 Z/28 book for part number 3871276; I have the correct fan clutch and a 69 7 blade fan will fit the clutch as it has a 3.25in hole and a 3in hole fan will not work. Oh what fun the GM engineers must be having with our hobby....

How accurate this this data??? http://www.camaros.org/coolingsystems.shtml [/ QUOTE ] According to my car, not very accurate. Maybe the mech lifter cars were supposed to get the 276 3.25 bolt circle fan - mine got the 562 3" bolt circle. Dave |

[/ QUOTE ] OK I need help from the 67/68 Z-28 crew since I am still not clear on this 3871276 fan. Today I got a few minutes to dig a little into my fan pile and found some of these as I thought I would. 5 blade, 4 rivets, front marked "front" with a "H" opposite it One blade with a "W" inside, 18" diameter, 3 1/4" bolt hole centers, 2 5/8" center hole. This particular one was painted white by someone that is what you are seeing. Is this not a 3871296. It is also sold pending payment but I have more. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...s/106_0827.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...s/106_0826.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...s/106_0825.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...s/106_0821.jpg Thanks for the help Joe |
