A agree Mark. I am way more middle of the road then either of the candidates we had to choose from.
I am afraid that we are at LEAST four years away from any kind of coming together (absent a major attack from a foreign power!!!!). No one on the left will be willing to concede a darn thing. No one on the right will give a chit about what ANYONE from the other party says; even if it has merit.

I hope I am wrong; but I sure wouldn't bet on it.

I'm with ya, Lynn, his previous 4 years he was rather divisive and I don't see any improvement with that either. All I hope for is a better economy and he gets that damned wall built in this 4 years so there is no arguing about that anymore.

I did my part. Where I vote-literally at the Registrar of Voters, we have touch screens that you cast your vote and can inquire about things you’re voting for, who is for it, who opposes it, and how much money it will cost…..Then print and go.

The wife and I voted the first morning that early voted began. We were in and out in less than 15 minutes!

Quite pleased with the way it all turned out. I look forward to watching my 401k's go north and make up for the losses incurred over the last 3 years.

As markinnaples stated. Hopefully the blue and red can coexist. Back in the day it was acceptable to be different. Now it tends to get violent if you have different political opinions. Best is to avoid any conversations about politics.

Famous quote from Cool Hand Luke...
"Captain : What we've got here is... failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it."

"I look forward to watching my 401k's go north and make up for the losses incurred over the last 3 years."

You may need a new financial advisor. While the Dow isn't the only indicator, it is a big indicator.

On Nov. 3, 2020 (election day) the Dow was at 26,925.05.

Election day 2024, the Dow was at 42,221.88.

The increase is approximately 56%. Whatever you want to blame on Biden (and there is plenty) it shouldn't be the stock market.

What history has shown is that over time, when it comes to the effect on the market, what helps most is NOT having either party in charge of all three (Senate, House & White house).

Now, before we get too political, hopefully we can get back to cars.

This thread is, so far, respectful to everyone and I appreciate hearing from members of this evolving group of thoughtful folks I’ve found community in for the last two decades. With that said, before it evolves into a roo-rah session that polarizes I should to give voice to those of us who are really disappointed and struggling with the ramifications of this election. I have a whole tier of friends (real friends, not just internet buddies) who I feel connected to very much on the basis of their character, and yet somehow we have this wide, cavernous disconnect on how we interpret and weigh the character of the past and future President. That dissonance was, and is, really challenging for me to reconcile. Anyway, I’m not posting here to argue. I strongly believe maintaining real friendships is far more important for all of us than the lonely unloading of our frustrations into the internet. I hope you all are able to navigate your friendships with grace and understanding. I’m trying my best, and will be doing so by getting back to cars (Thanks Lynn).

Agree 100%. I have so many friends on both sides of the spectrum; folks I have GREAT respect for.
Both sides tend to over react. Human nature. There is a lot to NOT like about some folks on BOTH sides of the aisle.
In my community (small town of about 10k) I stay as apolitical as I possibly can. Given my position as CEO of a non-profit trying to restore the second most historically significant building in Oklahoma, I have stay neutral. On this past 89er day (last April) I had four ex governors in the building on the same day shooting promotional video for our project; 3 democrats and 1 republican. They get along wonderfully. And, they all have a sense of humor and all long for the days when we can disagree without being total asses about it. They all four accomplished a LOT during their years of pubic service, and all four were able to reach across the aisle and work together. One of those democrats who was governor is now BEST FRIENDS with the fellow who was the republican President Pro Tempore of the Oklahoma Senate at the same time (a young man who was in my youth group back in the seventies when I was a youth minister... and the one who helped me get the trim tag law passed). They speak daily. Maybe some day we can get back there. My fear is that the "pundits" on TV, both far right and far left, have made that virtually impossible.

Appreciate the input.
