Sorry to learn of Kim's passing. As others have mentioned Kim was a great guy, passionate about cars especially the Gibb cars and always had some great stories. RIP.

I'm sorry to hear of Kim's passing, too. I didn't know him well, but he was part of the fabric of our hobby.

Howie and I would usually talk every few weeks. Always about our latest projects or screwups. He loved to laugh at himself. He was such an entertaining guy and was just brutally honest. Our friend will be missed!

I will miss his company.
He would call for a quick question or to and 4 hours later
we would hang up.
RIP my friend
Joe

Smile Kim Howie...

Like they say on those spots on TCM....Kim Howie, what a character

His interest in the Gibb cars and his love of the hobby were genuine and always entertaining. I remember being in the cafeteria at MCCAN with him and the "Gibb Girls"...along with Wayne Bushey. He was holding court and making everyone laugh...we had a lot of fun that day.

I'm sure he is looking down and smiling at all of us.

Happy trails Kim.

First of all, many thanks go out to Cumby for sharing this sad news about the passing of a fellow muscle car enthusiast. As several have already mentioned, there was never a dull minute with Kim around?

I first met Kim at a Super Chevy Show in Topeka, Ks. This was around 1991, but not sure of the year. Somehow, he knew I was going to be there and he made a trip from Albia, Ia to talk about the Nova's. Of course, we never seemed to have trouble looking for things to talk about with our interest focused on the mystery behind the COPO Nova's. While visiting, another man walked up and stated he bought a 427 DH prepared 68 Nova new. Turns out, it was still in existence. It was now tubbed, but Kim would wind up with that particular find. We also were successful in locating another red 427 68 DH prepared Camaro at that meet in his presence. The 454 Monte Carlo of Tim Pestinger was there, also.

From that day forward, Kim & I talked about the Nova's many times. One funny thing I would like to share is, one time while talking on the phone, a heard a shot ring out? I wondered what was going on and upon questioning, he replied he was shooting at a rabbit in the garden.

Rest In Peace, Kim

Kim was definitely a one in a million kinda guy and will be sorely missed. One of the best in the hobby for sure and instrumental in bringing the Gibb name to light. There was never a dull moment and Annie and I certainly made a good friend in him. If my intuition is correct, he and Dennis Hartweg are now running around together again tracking down some remaining Gibb cars that have yet to be found. God speed my friend.
