Re: Code 40 Butternut Yellow Z/28 Pictures. Real ?
It would be cool to find that article and see if it was a repaint or not. I don't know why i'm so affixed on the B/Y color right now, but it truly intriques me and I want one. I have only ever seen the one that was posted here, and yes it was butternut and not daytona. When I took the photo in this post, I was at the show with my Daytona Yellow Z/28, and the 2 cars were a world apart in colors as this one was pastel colored. At the time, it didn't appeal to me too much, but this color has grown on me since then. Especially when you see this on a Z/28 with black stripes. I have a picture of one with black stripes and it looks killer. I will own one of these soon if I can find one.

Re: Code 40 Butternut Yellow Z/28 Pictures. Real ?
[ QUOTE ]
A number of years ago, I remember a magazine (Super Chevy?) running a feature on a nice survivor '69 Z in unusual colors. I'm pretty sure it was Butternut Yellow with dark green standard interior. [/ QUOTE ] True statement. I have that issue (mid 80s) and I'll dig it out later today and scan/post it here unless someone beats me to it. The article refers to the car as being rare because of its BY paint. |

Re: Code 40 Butternut Yellow Z/28 Pictures. Real ?
Cool... I KNEW i remembered it...glad someone else does too. I'm curious to know when the issue was out, as I bet I was only about 10 or 12 years old when i read it and knew it was BS. I might have to go start rooting through old magazines and see if i still might have it... I'm not known to throw too much out, so its probably in a box somewhere...Wish I could remember what the cover looked like, would make my search alot easier.

Here it is, the January '87 Super Chevy with the '69 BY Z. Crossram, heater/radio delete, green interior and owned at that time by Carl Dwiggins of Conover, NC. Looks like black stripes.

Nice car no doubt but the Heater delete was added and I dont think there was such a thing as a radio delete, if you didnt order the option they put a dash plate in its place if im not mistake.
