Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
I bet once you get it down, you can swap Muncies yourself in under 2 hours(likely less). Just make sure the input and output splines are the sand. That's not bad. Some long guide bolts are very helpful.
Go have some fun with one car, Jason |

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Dan: I am processing your comments :-)
I certainly agree things can/will break, I will have a back up plan to get home if all hell breaks loose:-) Can I stay at your place? My plans are improving each day, as I learn my plan improves, so far I haven't bought a lot of items that don't suit the end goal, but a few certainly. The struggle to compromise for both uses street/strip is very difficult but I am learning and progressing:-) Again my level of love and enthusiasm for PSMCDR will not be matched by my competitiveness. Jason: Agree, I love the simplicity aspect of my car. A transmission change in a new vehicle vs my car is like night and day:-) especially after I restore all the items and know every bolt like the back of my hand:-) Ryan PS: Hope to chat with the engine machinist today.

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Dave Siltman called last night and got me all wound up about racing and W31's and Cragars, and has located a few more gem parts for me in his tickle trunk. I appreciate the support from a fellow 1969 Cutlass S Sports Coupe W31 4 speed guy:-)
I would love to find a cheap "rusty but restorable" blow proof bell housing. I have a lot of experience with high velocity, heavy, rotating objects and I am a big proponent of proper guarding and the more I look at the aluminum bell housing the more I like the idea of the blow proof. As I haven't got pipes to connect the exhaust manifolds and the X pipe yet I should be able to have the new ones made to go around the BP........ I would paint it cast aluminum colour so it looks as stock as possible. Ryan

one of those deals, use one or the other or both together
stock flywheel with the scattershield or good flywheel with factory bellhousing |

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Installing a blow proof housing was one of the best things I did when I raced my RR. It was a huge weight lifted knowing I was free to dump the clutch where "I" wanted to. Set it up right with zero runout and away you go. Dang I miss that big bird.......

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Update:
Pictures:-) I am having a hard time posting pictures of "virtual progress" much harder to document than actual progress. Engine: I plan to visit the machinist this week to pick up scrap and discuss next steps. Transmission: Nick and I are firming up a plan for a wicked M22Z (3) using a donor case/Trans and have decided to refresh the M22 out of the car with the basic seals, bearings, rebuild kit, etc as it is most valuable as such. Nick may have shared his addiction of Muncies with me:-) Driveshaft: the shaft is powder coated and I have new u-joints, and strap. I had to verify the spline count on the slip yoke I am buying from Dave Siltman, once I get it I will put it all together. Flywheel: firming up with Dave that it is a 10.5 inch, 30lb SFI approved steel. Clutch fork: if Dave finds it, a Lakewood heavy duty fork. Blow proof bell housing: looking for a used Quick Time or Lakewood...... A whole lotta virtual progress:-) invisible actuality at its best :-) Ryan
