I believe 1055 may have been Heavy's own driver number.

So far the only leads on the car have been in North Carolina. To put that in context, there have been zero leads on the car in the other states mentioned over the years. Joe Algieri has most of the time said he delivered the car to Kentucky, but once or twice he changed the state. Doug's book says Georgia.
The only palpable lead is a guy saying he saw the car in a warehouse/shop near Camp Lejeune in the 90s, it was black with white stripes, and you could feel the old paint under the black paint that indicated the car has graphics or some sort. The owner or the person speaking about the car said it was IV and that Grumpy has seen the car and said it was IV when he saw it at a show or a race. Richie talked to one of the guys whose name came up and that guy said he did not have it. There is another name and we are trying to get a hold of that guy. Another friend is running down another guy who was at the track all the time around that time. I'll post once one of us gets a hold of the second guy. |

Interesting...in all these pics, the car has a front bumper and '68 fenders/marker lights . The previous pic has no bumper and '67/no marker light fenders. Second season with markers removed/holes filled and fenders "lightened" over winter, or actual '67 fenders ?? Could be why Joe claimed they were in bad condition when he got the car and he sold the front clip ?
Really like to see a good pic of the nose stripe on the bumperless car.

The car was repainted from yellow to white, the nose stripe in pics is '68 style and lacks a break for the engine displacement.
