And we're back again.
Progressing along nicely...both Bodyguy #1 and #2 were hard at work today when we arrived. I noticed a layer of murky black water under the bottom of the shop bay door when we first arrived...sure sign of wetsanding in process. The final major preps are rapidly approaching completion, and the pass. door and part of the roof are about all that's left to be wetsanded. ![]() ![]() Nice panel alignment, esp. considering what Bodyguy had to start with. ![]() ![]() The A pillar cover isn't fastened down yet, so it's not spot on with the cowl or fender in this pic. ![]() The fender emblem holes were a bit off from where they were supposed to be, so Bodyguy had to weld the holes up and relocate the emblem. He was right in the middle of this when we arrived. ![]() The back of the car is almost done; still on the "to do" list are the hole for the rear antenna, the rear window trim studs, the decklid trim studs, and the holes for the rear body panel trim. Small potatoes at this point. ![]() ![]() Still on the "to do" list are finishing up the rockers, installing the windshield trim studs, fitting the hood for the "Chevelle" emblem, rebuilding the door hinges, fitting the wheel well moldings, and that's about it! Bodyguy said by this time next week the car should be back apart for inside/backside panel prep, and we *should* have some color on the car within the next few weeks! WOO HOO!!! Bodyguy estimated roughly another 2 months worth of work and the car will be done. God willing and the creek don't rise, by this summer she should be out [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/ ![]() More next week. And I bet we will not be able to keep you on the ground and likely won't even hear from you as you will be out playing with the car. Looks great Eric!

Only a brief update for now;
Bodyguy had some other issues to tackle this week aside from the Chevelle, and he has also been flying solo for the last week as Bodyguy #2 has been out of state for his job and won't be back in town for a couple more weeks. As such, the doors, fenders, decklid & hood haven't came back off yet (2 person jobs)--more on that in a moment though. Some of the interior prep work is now in process, and the jambs have been partially stripped. ![]() ![]() Bodyguy asked me to stop back either Tuesday or Wednesday to help him get the panels back off of the car, so hopefully there will be another update in the next week or so. More later. |

Only a brief update for today:
Bodyguy was doing some last-minute touch-ups to the wetsanding when we arrived today. Seems he wasn't satisfied with one of the body lines on the drivers quarter, but as usual, he quickly resolved the issue. ![]() The floors are done and sealed in DP90. ![]() ![]() We finally removed the hood, fenders and doors for their final prep to get them ready to cut in. ![]() ![]() ![]() More next weekend hopefully. |

The door rust has been fixed.
Once again, Bodyguy's talent amazes me. This is the rusted section which was excised from the bottom of the drivers door. Bodyguy hand formed the repair panel out of one piece of flat sheetmetal. (a few more rust pinholes were found on both doors once the remaining primer & paint had been stripped off, but Bodyguy has those pics on his camera and is supposed to email them to me later) ![]() Tried to get a better pic with the flash, didn't really help. ![]() The hinges are in process and should be done this week. ![]() Bodyguy informs me that he plans to hit the cowl & jambs with one more coat of color Monday, then they will be cleared. As Bodyguy #2 is still out of state for his work, I'll be making another visit sometime this week to help move panels back around again. Scuffing the jambs & rockers just as we were getting ready to leave: ![]() More later. |
