Been a couple of years since posting about this "Beater"....... The car has been absolutely trouble free except for a Alternator going bad..... 38,000 miles of great driving across the country in various Road Tours...... So, yesterday I went out to the Drag strip to watch friends race and at the last minute I decided to just run it down the track..... Had the trunk loaded and just left everything in and ran it down the track....... 12.53 @ 114 mph with a 2.1 second 60' time....... LOL.... These engines are crazy...... and I get 23 MPG on the highway.....Awsum for a street car

When I put the Edelbrock Supercharger on the engine the drive belt set-up was a single belt design........so.....all of the force required to turn the supercharger was in the belt wrap around the water pump pulley.....Didn't realize that was the weak link till it broke...... Found out after that, that Edelbrock realized they had a problem and built a water pump assy that was designed to absorb all that stress.......Lesson learned....All fixed with new parts now..

Drove out to the Drag Strip yesterday and made one pass.......On street tires and just left it in overdrive and ran it down the track.......12.25 @ 115....It's a dead stock 2006 GTO LS2 with the Edelbrock supercharger at 6 lbs of boost

The story continues.....In driving the Impala all over the country on various Road Tours, one of the things that was weak was the Air Conditioner.......When I built the car in 2011 the only company I found that had a unit for the Impala was Classic Auto Air........I bought that unit and installed it.......But .....In driving the car with the A/C on it never really cooled off....I thought it was because of the Black Convertible top letting the heat in.....So.....This year we did the Good-Guys Road Tour and I took the Chevelle that has a Vintage Air unit in it....Crazy how efficient that unit is.....So.......When I got home I had both the cars in the garage......had them side by side and it was a hot day so I started them both up and turned the A/C on.....Went back and forth between them and the Chevelle was blowing ice cubes out the vents and the Impala was blowing cool air........Humm!!!!.....Since they were both in the garage there wasn't any sun influencing the Temps..... Hummm!!!!......The Impala system was just checked and the freon was right where it needed to be.......Hummm!!....So with both cars running I got out my thermal Heat Gun and started comparing everything....When I started measuring the Temp of the heater hoses and checked past the heater control valve and the Chevelle hose was room temp.........The Impala was a different story .....The hose temp past valve was about 20 degrees warmer than the Chevelle.......So......I figured the valve was bad....Went on the website and couldn't find a part number for the valve to order a new one.........I found all the instructions for the A/C unit from back in the day.....When I found the heater valve info.........It was very specific in showing that the heater control valve was to be installed in the return line and not to the feed line from the engine........Didn't make any sense to do it that way .....But!!!!......So I started looking around and seen that Vintage Air now makes a unit specifically designed for the Impala....Bought it and took the old unit out and installed the V/A set-up......Went from 2" vent hoses to 2 1/2".......WOW!!!!.....Once I get it charged it will definitely have the airflow to keep the car cool in the Summer Sun....

My Camaro has their newest unit and it freezes me out while still being quiet. I run the fan on low with the temp turned up. Finally a great ac system. Thanks Vintage Air.
