Both were painted by Kevin Westmoreland in GA. He is a great painter.

The aluminum was as straight as steel....pretty scary to have a car like that sitting out in the open with people walking all around it..I heard a good guy got it and also has the Sanders car that the motor in the red one was out of !!!

Correct, the motor in that one was from the Sanders car. Hard to believe, but that paint on the Z-11 is nothing more than Centari enamel.

"Same guy bought RS Z28 Crossram for $130K and 69 Post L78 Silver Chevelle for $137,500 both were for his 8yr old kid. Fresh resto on Z super nice quality car stood tall. "

Does anyone have the skinny on this 69 300 Deluxe? Any pictures?

Thanks

Found pix at the mecum website. Nice looking car . Where did they get the "1 of only 6 built" statistic from? Post 300 L78 numbers are projected at about 140 total and Hardtop 300 L78s are projected at about 180 (per Dan Carr's research). Anybody know where this car was campaigned and set the record? Was this by chance a factory L89 optioned L78? That might account for the "1 of 6". Anybody notice the build date and factory of this car?

Thanks!

I had heard about this car growing up.
I haven't seen the 69 300 series L-78 since the Chevelle Showdown in 1993,after Brian Caudell restored it.
I believe it's a Kansas build Leeds plant.
The 1 of 6 claim is a for Aluminum headed L-89's and is a guesstimate as well that has been grossly misquoted over onto these cars now.GM doesn't even know how many were made originally.
This isn't an Aluminum head L-89,it was delivered as an L-78 cast iron head to Cliff Parry of Astoria,Il.
He drag raced it for one year after he bought it back then.Race track officials had a hard time believeing it was a Legitimate factory built 2 dr sedan 300 series Super Sport L-78 Chevelle,(1969 was the only year this was possible, and very few existed),so Cliff campaigned it as the "GM Reject".
He raced it around Iowa & central Illinois and at Beardstown achieved a Super Stock Class National Record. It was forced to run in that class, due to it's questionable claim. It only raced seriously for one year and was soon retired to street racing soon after.
Years later it went out to Boyd C. shop in Calif.,then was up for sale at SC Indy months later.
When Greg D. bought it in 1989,it had only 6188 miles on it.
