Weren't all the Darts and Cudas built by Hurst and doesn't that documentation exist?

There were also some bids tendered from the Bank One hospitality suite, which could not be witnessed from the stage.

That car was restored to "as delivered" condition, which means no paint and raw fiberglas gelcoated fenders and hood. These cars were factory pick-up only by the race teams. All of the VINS are known. I had one back in the 80s that was a tubbed out race car. I knew it was one of the batch but after I sold it I learned it was the 2nd car built. It was kind of neet as the odometer read .2 (1/4 of a mile).

All the VINS start with B029M8 (barracuda) or LO23M8 (Dart) In 1968 "M" was the engine code for the 426 Hemi Super Stock crossram 12.5 to 1 compression ratio engine

My foggy memory seems to recall these cars being delivered with a sticker or plate that noted 'this car not for street us' and 'no factory warranty'. Windows were thin glass or plexiglass and pulled up with a strap. Now that's what a call a stripper! Viagra on wheels!

I saw Galen Glovier near the car in the staging area, and asked him if the car was a real Hemi Dart. He answered enigmatically, "Mostly... but if you want to know what I know, it'll cost you $400."

That did it. He's off my Christmas list.

Most of these cars were heavily tubbed and are still competitive to this day in their class. From the factory they had thin (easily broken) glass and the doors were half-thickness sheet metal, front end was fiberglass, front bumper was lightweight metal, inner fenders were pounded and rewelded to clear headers, no window mechanisms, just a seatbelt to hold them up, lightweight Doage A100 van seats on swiss cheese mounts and more stuff I'm probably forgetting. The Hemi Dart I had was fully tubbed and the trans tunnel was even enlarged. Too much for me to restore but the guy who bought it from me kept the original outside body shell intact and welded in an entire new floor and frame rails, from front footwells to trunk. An amazing amount of work, but it kept the original car intact.

As for Galen, he makes money rendering an opinion on Mopars. That is how he feeds his kids. Though his best response would be to say: "I cant comment unless I'm on retainer" and then it's up to the person to hire him or not.

So Galen Govier is forcing Mopar guys to pay his fee if they want their car's build history confirmed?

How is this different from Craig Jackson "forcing" sellers to play by his rules?

Is it that Mr. Govier is okay because he's merely trying to "feed his kids" but Craig Jackson is "greedy" because he's gotten rich auctioning cars?
