1966 SS Chevelle 396-375 HP Same Owner 25 Yrs
I am listing this for my friend John who has dementia and can not speak, his wife Linda asked me if I could help sell the car. I recently sold John;'s 66 SS 396-360 HP Chevelle w/11k org miles, he also owned this car for over 25 years.
John acquired this Original 1966 SS 396-375 HP Marina Blue Chevelle in 1999 and has driven it very little since he has owned it, it currently has 39,716 documented miles with all original rust free body panels. He has displayed the car at the Hershey AACA meets over the years & acquired Junior & Senior awards. He also met up with the original owner Travis Poore and stayed in contact with him up until about 5 years ago when his health diminished. Linda sent me a list of previous owners, and I tried calling all of them and to my surprise, I got a phone call back from Travis Poore on Monday Nov. 4th, 2024, he is 80 years old now and still has quite the memory of coming home from Germany in 1966 and working for GM. He described every detail of what he wanted and ordered this car for racing, having raced it at Milan, US31 & Bench Bend, KY. I will supply the new owner the contact info for Travis & you can speak to him to verify everything. 1966 SS 396-375 HP Ordered New @ Bob Closum Chevrolet Adrian, MI 06E ST 66-13817Fl1 9741 BODY F-F Marina Blue TR 731-B Blue bucket seats no console Muncie 4-speed w/VIN 144308 CU0526 B 3.73 posi w/metallic brakes Holley 3893229 List-3613 dated 654 factory transistor ignition box & distributor HD Radiator Radio Delete No P/S, No P/B, Travis did tell me he was on his way to pick his girlfriend at the time to go to church & he was shifting between gears & the car shut off & would not start back up, it just clicked as he tried. He had to replace the original block & a 2-bolt block was installed with all the original factory parts. Since John bought the car in 1999, he bought a real 1966 962 4-bolt block dated correct for the car stamped T0412EG. This block will be included with the sale of the car. Travis sold the car to the 2nd owner Larry Demey from MI I believe in 1984, Larry repainted the car white & then sold it to the 3rd owner Roy Perry, from TX. The odometer statement from April 25th, 1987 shows 38,832 miles. Roy had an article written in The Chevelle Report in March 1987 verifying the car as well. Roy completely disassembled the car to repaint & rechromed all the trim, the blue bucket seat interior is all original except the seat covers, the drivers seat had a small tear so a complete set was ordered. The body was rust free and few replacement parts were needed on this low mileage original equipment SS.
