Hey Jim, why stop there, drop in an LS motor too 🙄
He was adamant about it actually. Maybe the beverage he was drinking at dinner that evening?

A 4 speed or an LS is going will never happen during my ownership.

A win on many levels.
So...2004R is the same length as a PG..?? Would a good TH350 be an option as well...it has a 2.52 first gear?? Of course, then there is no O/D.

Will you be able to use the stock driveshaft??

It is a great looking car

Same length. Yes a Turbo 350 will work fine too but if your going to swap, why not have overdrive? The most important thing with the 200 (and 700) is proper TV cable set up. If not done correctly will smoke the trans in no time.

So if someone wanted to modify this cool old ‘65 muscle car from it’s stock 2 speed Jetaway to a whatever 3 speed auto, or overdrive unit what happens to the factory steering column and shift indicator window ??

How far does one butcher a classic?

Sorry for my vent, but I have seen this happen way to often on these types of cars.

People who have the done the swap generally use the Lokar linkage kit. as far as the shift indicator lens, I would leave it alone as well as the column as I wouldn't be shifting it. I'd want it to be a swap that wouldn't permanently alter anything whatsoever.

Nothing is decided yet. The Jetaway might stay. We'll see...

I have used products from Shiftworks....they make quality stuff.

https://shiftworks.com/collections/c...s/column-shift

looks like the universal unit is for you...they even have indicator plates you can swap in.
