I bet that front license plate wasn't cheap! One year only, real ones are rare. I have one on my 69 as well. Nice car.

You might be anyway, with the mere mention of her name in the same topic...

Finally! September! I've been waiting for this!

We'll start here -

This one was ordered through Dick Jesse at Royal Pontiac specifically for my dad to race. 389 tripower, 4 speed, 3.90 gear, metallic brakes.

Built September 18th in Pontiac Michigan; instead of going to the hospital to see my new baby sister Dad and I went down to Royal to pick the car up.

I had it out over the weekend and I think it now has around 5100 miles on it. Original unrestored condition (born with powertrain, paint and interior); Never been in the snow, never sat outside over night, only been in the rain a couple times and, other than the stint at the Gilmore Museum, never been out of our direct control.

This car was the NHRA B/Stock national record holder in 1965 and best ET is 12.23 @118mph in B/MP trim (headers, '67 heads and tripower, 9" slick).

Dad ordered this one for mom to drive.

https://www.motortrend.com/features/...hevy-chevelle/

https://www.nmcadigital.com/blog/kei...g-classes/2148

Built in late September of 1973 in Oshawa he ordered the base Malibu so that he could get the Police package. He still ordered the same interior as was in our '73 Monte Carlo, with the black/grey herringbone weave, swivel buckets, rally cluster and console shift. 454, TH400, 3.42 posi, 8" rally wheels with HR60-15 Goodyear tires.

Delivered through Robert Uptegraff Chevrolet in Davison; the building is still there operating as Hank Graff Chevrolet for some many years.

Mom drove it four years and I got it after she was done. I started racing this car in 1978, so this year marks 46 years racing this same car.

Weighing in at 4100 pounds originally, first pass was a 15.10 and I had it going 14.90's by the end of the day.

It's a svelte 3550 lbs now; Best pass to date is 9.85 at 136mph. It wants to go 9.80's even in the heat and, to be honest, I don't really know how fast it will go. I'm planning a test session after the formal season is over to see what it will really do.

This is a fun one, I think.

Back in 1986 I was a GM company car driver. They changed the policy and took away my wheels so I needed something to drive.

Since I worked in the Flint truck assembly plant naturally I figured a pickup truck would be a good daily.

I saw the "new for 1988" GMT400's and didn't really like the way they looked so I hurried and ordered this '87. 4.3L V6, fuel injected, MY6 New Process A833 3 speed manual with overdrive, Hurst floor shifter, 3.73 gears with posi.

I followed it down the line as it was built and drove it through the shipping building myself. I got to the plant at 4pm on Monday Sept 29 1986 and it was just coming down out of trim. I followed the body through trim and ran downstairs to follow the engine/chassis build. I let the driver take it through roll test and onto the short line repair. After the short line I drove it to the shipping building and told the boss "Lloyd - this is MY truck". I left the plant about 1am Tuesday and by 5pm it was sitting at Graffs in Davison (I still had to pay $525 destination fee for those 9 or 10 miles).

I drove it for four years in Michigan and Arizona and then sold it to my in-laws. They had it for 18 years and then I got it back when my father in law passed, just as I was losing my company vehicle for a second time! This little truck has bailed me out twice -
