This amazing 2008 Audi Auto Union Type C Limited Edition 1:2 Scale Pedal Car is one of only 999 hand built by Audi. The Auto Union Grand Prix racing cars types A to D were developed and built by a specialist racing department of Auto Union Horch works in Zwickau, Germany between 1933 and 1939. Of the 4 Auto Union racing cars, the Type A, B, and C used from 1934 to 1937 had supercharged V16 engines and the final car, the Type D used in 1938 and 1939 had a supercharged 3L V12 that developed almost 550 horsepower. Between 1935 and 1937, Auto Unions won 25 races. Their main competition came from the Mercedes Benz team which also raced sleek silver car known as the Silver Arrows. The cars of the two German teams dominated Grand Prix racing until the outbreak of World War II in 1939. Audi wanted to pay tribute to the Auto Union Grand Prix racing cars by commissioning 999 1:2 scale Auto Union Type C pedal cars. As advertised by Audi, “Pass your passion for driving on to the youngest of the family with this Audi Auto Union Type C replica from 1936. You'll make them discover the speed and feeling of control that comes with being behind the steering wheel. This authentic artwork contains 900 handmade parts made out of an Audi aluminum coachwork. It has 7 gears with a brake pedal and a hydraulic double-disc braking system. This eye-catching design model is built on a stable aluminum tubular spaceframe. The aluminum panel body has been produced exclusively at Audi Toolmaking. This 1:2 scale Auto Union Type C is produced built in a real treat for junior racers up to 4 ft. tall. Other features of this unusually elaborate pedal car include the removable oak dashboard and a steering wheel with a quick-lock system that makes getting in and out easier. This example was part of a private collection and used as a display piece only. It's never been used since it was built 16 years ago. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased it in July of 2024 and August of 2024 is the first time it's been listed for sale.

This example is serial #17 which indicates it was one of the first produced of the 999 units. It retains its original Audi factory serial tag. This entire pedal car is in excellent original factory condition throughout with only a few imperfections. The exterior styling and craftsmanship is second to none. The aluminum body is extremely straight with simulated appointments such rear end fins. It was painted in the correct shade of Silver to represent the colors of the original factory Auto Union Grand Prix racing cars. The paint was recently detailed to a brilliant finish by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS. The body was decorated with a front grille, Audi black decal, Nurburgring decal on left side, number #5, body rivets, exhaust pipes and quick release straps that hood the rear cover. It rolls on 10” wire wheels with knock offs that are wrapped with B.F. Goodrich Silvertown 4.80-10 tires. The tires lettering on the left side was colored in silver. The cabin is trimmed with tan soft leather. The removable oak wood dash is decorated with 3 white face gauges and reads “Made by Audi”. The removable 4-spoke steering wheel is trimmed with tan soft leather. The contoured seat is also wrapped with tan soft leather. The cabin inner paneling has been painted silver throughout to match the exterior. The aluminum lever for the 7 gears is on the right side and the aluminum level for the hydraulic double-disc braking system. The body sits on an stable aluminum tubular space frame that's also been painted sliver.

Two letters confirming purchase from Audi, Certificate of serial number, owner's manuals, service card, Nurburgring decal, Auto Union Type C ornament, 7- photos and a Busch Auto Union Type C 1:87 scale car are included with the sale.
