Default Any computer wizards?

My wife just bought a new laptop. I was trying to set it up for her today but, the password is not taking. I figure no big deal, I will just create a new password.
I try that and Microsoft wants me to enter the old password which it isn't accepting.

The other option is to have Microsoft send a code to my phone so I can make the change. Apparently my cellphone is associated with the account(?) because it won't send the code to my phone.

Long story short, I can't reset / create the password so I can't complete the installation of her new laptop. I tried to find a was to actually speak to someone from support but, that is impossible.

Any ideas?

I am not a computer wizard. That being said, a while ago I bought a new home security camera system that came with its own code factory installed. In order to change the code to one of my choice, I had to input their code first. Their code was found in the instruction manual.

Google may also be helpful as the maker of your computer may use a standard factory installed code.

Good luck

Thank's Tony. After trying a few times more, the password suddenly worked. All good now; who know's what the issue was?

I've noticed some weirdness lately with passwords. I've dropped my previous ISP and as such the old email address. I've been going through and updating sites with my gmail email addresses and some sites want to send an email for confirmation to the gmail address. Click the button and nothing comes in. Try again several times and nada. Camaros.org is one of them. I'm wondering if Gmail doesn't subscribe to a RBL (realtime blackhole list) to block certain sender domains that are known SPAM sources. You can easily get your domain added to this list without even knowing it if you don't have the right security settings in place and then the spammers use the domain as a relay point. Camaros.org is basically an unsecure site (no SSL enabled) so maybe.

I have a great Computer Geek fellow that comes out every six months or so to clean up and update my computer. He does a great job for $150, he really can perform miracles.
