Here is a pic Doyle had taken back in the day. One will note what looks to be the factory side pipes. It is reported that Doyle liked the look of the factory side pipes, but only installed the covers. The undercar exhaust always remained.

Here are a couple of pics of the ZL1 powered car Doyle campaigned in Modified Production

Bottom pic is Beech Bend Park and I think the top one is Ohio Valley.

Stunning example. Red LT1s are not common. Good luck Tim!

Default Lt1

This is a great car! I bought it from the second owner, who was friends with Doyle, and I went through the entire car and prepped it for judging. Tim mentioned that it scored 97.1 at the Illinois meet and could have done 98 plus with a few corrections that I already knew about. Here is a website I built for the car with some more history:https://www.1971corvettelt1.com/. It was the perfect bookend for my 69 L89 red red bowtie/benchmark car: https://www.1969corvettel89.com/. There is a lot of fantastic history and documentation with the car.

It was stuck on the assembly line during the 67-day strike in 1970 and was delivered in Nov. That is why it has date-coded parts from August to October. The car has several unique items, such as the fact that it was one of the first cars not to have headlight washers. There are holes in the bezel for the squirters but they were never installed. You can see where the factory cut the washer hoses in the vacuum hose bundle. The inner fenders have the correct black out process with the red oxide primer showing. The floor pans have the correct body overspray. I had the car dry ice blasted and then cleaned the chassis, which is well preserved with numerous factory inspection marks. The drivetrain is 100% original as all the other components such as the alternator, carb, water pump etc.

As Tim mentioned this is an amazing, unrestored LT1 with a great history, factory docs, VV Cooke pedigree and a desirable color combo. It is a great car to take through the judging process or enjoy.
