This show quality 1984 Pontiac Fiero SE Indy Pace Car Edition has only 889 original miles. This example is one of only 2,000 produced for the 1984 model year to celebrate the Fiero becoming the first mid-engine pace car for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Pontiac Fiero is a rear mid-engine, light sports car manufactured by Pontiac for model years 1984-1988. It was styled by George Milidrag and Hulki Aldikacti as an economical commuter car with modest performance aspirations. It was Pontiac's first two-seater since their 1926 to 1938 coupes and the first mid-engine mass-produced car by any American manufacturer. The Fiero chassis and structure technology used non-load-bearing, composite body-panels, contributing to the car's light-weight and unique selling proposition. The Fiero 2M4 (two-seat, mid-engine four cylinder was on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1984 and was the Official Pace Car of the Indianapolis 500. As the original Pontiac Motor Division Memo Copy 2 sheet indicates this vehicle was built in Pontiac, MI with the following options: White upper and Dark Gray lower exterior, Fiero Limited Edition Indy Pace Car (removable sunroof, sport power mirrors, rear deck spoiler, specific interior appointments, leather wrapped steering wheel, carpeted floor mats, AM-FM cassette with graphic equalizer), 215/60/14 white letter tires, tilt steering wheel and air conditioning. It was shipped to Pope Motor Company located in Pottsville, PA. It was sold to Francis Nuss III who lived in Elizabethville, PA on April 10th, 1984 with 14 miles on the odometer. This information is on the original Warranty and Owner Assistance Information booklet. From the information gathered Francis served as a Sargent in the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired machinist from the former American Can Co after 40 years of service. During this timeframe at age 49 years old he purchased this car as an investment which gave him a sense of pride. Following his retirement he worked for Brubaker Tool and was a member of the American Legion. Unfortunately, in 2018 at age 83 he passed. The car was purchased by a local classic car collector who lives in Halifax, PA on June 9th, 2023 with 884 original miles. This is a two-owner car that spent its entire life in Pennsylvania until it was purchased by MS CLASSIC CARS on May 15th, 2024 with 885 original miles. This car has never been listed for sale until now. The original Pontiac Motor Division Memo Copy 2 sheet, original owner's manuals and clean Car Fax report are included with the sale.

The exterior of this car is in excellent overall condition. The Fiero Limited Edition Indy Pace Car package included revised aerodynamic bodywork as well as a pop-up sunroof, model-specific badging and quadruple exhaust outlets that exit through the rear valance. The body is finished in white with gray lower cladding and red pin striping. The paint is near flawless and was recently detailed to a glossy finish by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS. Some additional exterior details include pop-up headlights, a left-side quarter panel air intake and rear spoiler. The factory original Soft-Ray Flo-Lite tinted glass is in excellent condition. It retains an original Pennsylvania inspection sticker which expired in May of 1986. All of the black trim, body-side moldings and rear tail panel are in excellent condition. The rubber seals and gaskets are still pliable. The car rolls on the original 14” HI-TECH aluminum wheels that were painted white with a red outer stripe as part of the Indy Pace Car package. The natural aluminum clear coat on the outer wheel has some peeling and oxidation. The wheels are wrapped with BF Goodrich Radial T/A 215/60/14 white letter tires. These tires were produced on the 50th week of 2019 based on the DOT date codes.

The interior of this car is also in excellent overall condition. The gray cabin features red carpeting on the lower section of the door panels and flooring. The bolstered seats are trimmed in gray leather with red cloth inserts and Indianapolis 500 logos on the seatbacks. Stereo speakers are mounted in the headrests which are powered by the factory AM-FM cassette with graphic equalizer. The three-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel frames an 85- mph speedometer, a tachometer, coolant temperature gauge and fuel level gauge. Some additional features include overhead map lights, tilt steering wheel, air conditioning, power mirrors, center console with storage compartment and reclining bucket seats. Everything in the interior is in working order including the air conditioning and the original stereo which was professionally restored. It retains the factory original stickers on the driver's inner door. The headliner material has remained glued and is tight. The material on the sun visors, head rests and door panel grab handles has slightly loosened.

The front compartment under the hood is nicely detailed throughout with original parts. There are no signs of oxidation or deterioration. It still retains the factory original stickers which are crisp. It also retains the factory original assembly paint markings which are still bright in color. The rubber seals and gaskets are still pliable. It's equipped with the factory original spare tire, jack and tools. Everything is in working order such as the headlights, cooling system and braking system.

The engine compartment is nicely detailed throughout with original parts. It still retains the factory original stickers on the backside of the deck lid. The gray carpeted trunk compartment is clean and free of any odors. The car is powered by the factory original mid-mounted and fuel injected 2.5L “LR8”Inline-four cylinder engine that was factory rated with 92 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. The engine is dressed with the factory original silver valve cover and air cleaner. The engine is coupled to the factory original “MM4”4-speed manual transmission which has an up-shift indicator light. The engine runs excellent and the transmission shifts smoothly. The power is transferred to the “FW5” rear axle with 4.10 gears.

The undercarriage is nicely detailed throughout with original parts. It still retains the factory original stickers and assembly markings. The rack and pinion steering, rally handling suspension and four-wheel disc braking system is in excellent working order.
