Barrett Jackson Description
Known as “Nightfire” – this killer 1971 Chevrolet Nova Custom is packing a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine and rides on a 21st Century Street Machines subframe. As the VIN number indicates this car was built in Willow Run, Michigan as a 1971 Chevrolet Nova 2-door sedan with a V8 engine. It was the product of a multi-year restoration by Clayton West of Performance Dyanamics. The final touches were completed by Rick Hunt of Hunts Hot Rods. The vision of the build was to create the ultimate street machine without compromising the original appearance that people admire about the third generation Nova. The vision was brought to life when it was completed in 2023. The exterior appearance is stunning with its clean lines and attention to detail. The body retains all of its original sheet metal with the exception of the Goodmark cowl hood which was added for styling. The body is super straight with excellent gap lines throughout. The car was re-finished in Matrix GM Black paint with House of Kolor clear coat. The deep black paint was recently detailed to a show quality shine. Everything on the exterior was replaced new including all the glass. Some of the exterior custom features include Morris Clear Shot mirrors, Oracle 7” LED headlights, Randy’s Pro Touring front spoiler and Easy Performance Digital LED tail lights. The car sits on custom Rushforth “Fuel” polished wheels that are 18x8 on the front and 19x12 on the rear. The wheels are wrapped with Nitto NT555 tires that are 255/35/18 on the front and 305/30/19 on the rear. Detroit Speed mini tubs were installed to accommodate the large rear tires. The interior appearance is also stunning with its clean design and attention to detail. Everything was replaced new including an American Auto Wire harness. The custom door panels, TMI front bucket seats and rear factory bench seat were covered with red vinyl and suede upholstery. Some of the interior custom features include Dakota Digital RTX gauges, tilt steering column, Eddie Motorsports steering wheel, billet hardware, modern seat belts, Vintage Air Conditioning, Hurst shifter, Lokar midnight pedals and custom black carpeted floor mats. It’s equipped with a Retrosound head unit with a Kicker sound system including a 5-channel amplifier, 6.5” door speakers, 6x9 rear speakers and 10” subwoofer. The trunk was boxed and completely covered with matching upholstery. The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many custom parts. The firewall and radiator support panel was smoothed for a clean appearance. The hood pivots on Ring Brothers black aluminum hinges. The car is powered by a new GM Performance 6.2-liter LS3 crate engine that provides performance and reliability. The engine is equipped with a Holley LS3 intake, Edelbrock Pro-Flow 4 fuel management system and Holley front runner system. The orange engine block dressed with polished finned valve covers and a dual snorkel air cleaner for an era correct appearance. The engine is cooled by a black Griffin aluminum radiator with dual SPAL fans and custom overfill canister. The engine breathes through Summit Racing exhaust manifolds and polished dual exhaust system with Magnaflow mufflers. The engine is coupled to a new Tremec TKO600 5-speed manual transmission with a McLeod clutch and Bowler reservoir. The power is transferred a new Quick Performance 9” rear end with Eaton Truetrac and 3.70 gears. The undercarriage is nicely detailed throughout with many custom parts. The front suspension consists of a 21st Century Street Machines subframe with power rack and pinion steering, C5 suspension and Carrera coil overs. The rear suspension consists of a Ridetech 4-link system with QA1 coil overs. It’s equipped with Baer four wheel disc brakes that are 15” on the front with 6-piston red calipers and 16” on the rear with 4-piston red calipers. This car was recently serviced and detailed which is documented with an invoice that’s included. From the MS CLASSIC CARS Collection.
