Other muscle cars and pony cars came before, but within months of its introduction in 1967 the Camaro was an undisputed favorite among enthusiasts. It has maintained its popularity for five decades. Considering it’s unquestionable popularity – not only to mention the nameplate 50th anniversary this year – it seemed fitting to build a first-year example of this street machine staple for the 2017/2018 Goodguys Grand Prize Giveaway. We teamed up with artist Eric Brockmeyer for design and Goolsby Customs to execute the build. Thanks to generous support from some of our industry’s top manufacturers, this sweet ’67 has become a standout street machine honoring the Camaro’s heritage while showcasing some of the best contemporary performance parts.” This spectacular 1967 Chevrolet Camaro is the well recognized 2017/2018 Goodguys Grand Prize Giveaway Car - 50TH Anniversary Camaro. It was featured at SEMA in 2017 and was driven on the Goodguys road tour. The factory appearing ride sits on a Roadster Shop Spec Series full chassis and is powered by an Edelbrock Supercharged LS3 416 crate engine that’s rated with 720 horsepower and 695ft-lbs of torque. It was designed and illustrated by well-respected Eric Brockmeyer. It was built by well-respected Goolsby Customs. This car was picked as the “Guest Favorite” at the 2018 Adirondack Nationals in Lake George, NY which was sponsored by Joe and Amanda from Iron Resurrection. The award is included. A custom matching Guitar from the Guitar Build in Nashville, TN and a custom car cover are also included. As the restoration photos indicate the 1967 Camaro that Goolsby Customs started with was relatively solid. Some metal has been brazed over rust in the cowl years ago and the shock towers had been repaired and reinforced at some point. The car was treated to a new Year One SS hood and a set of NOS front fenders, but the original quarter panels and doors were repaired and reused. The Goolsby crew widened the Camaro’s rear inner wheel tubs with Detroit Mini tubs to accommodate the big rear tires and the front inners were subtly enlarged as well. The firewall was smoothed out to eliminate factory gaps where seam sealer had been used and to fill in holes that were no longer needed. In preparation for the final finish, the Camaro’s body was stripped bare and coated with epoxy primer. Body filler was applied over the epoxy, blocked out and then covered with multiple applications of polyester high-build primer. After blocking out the primer, the car was sealed, then yellow basecoat was applied to the body and panels. The Goolsby crew installed the doors before the next round of base to get the color consistent. Then, the car was torn down for clearcoat. The body is extremely straight with excellent gaps throughout. The hood, doors and trunk lid close very nicely. It was finished in factory correct Butternut Yellow with a black bumble bee front nose stripe. This color combination dresses the car perfectly as it’s simple yet distinctive. The paint is very high quality and has been recently detailed to a show quality shine. The black hood grille pieces, front grille and rear tail panel matches the theme. All of the tinted glass is new and crystal clear. The factory trim was refurbished by Advanced Plating. The original bumpers bolts were smoothed, modified for a tighter fit and re-chromed. The SS badging adds the icing to the cake. The car was outfitted with custom 18” Billet Specialties B-Forged wheels that have a matte power coated finish and a polished lip. The front wheels are 10.5” and the rear wheels are 12.5”. The wheels are wrapped with BF Goodrich G-Force Rival tires that are 275-35-18 on the front and 315-30-18 on the rear. What makes this 1967 Camaro so special is the fact that it’s simple and super clean. The beautiful black leather interior is also simple and super clean. The entire cabin was covered in Boom Mat insulation prior to M&M Hot Rod interiors installing the custom vintage style leather interior. The interior was designed around of the theme of appearing similar to the factory. Everything in the interior was completed at a high level including the headliner, sun visors, leather dash pad, dash fascia, leather door panels, leather bucket seats and carpeting. The new interior trim was provided by Clayton Machine Works. Some other custom upgrades include the Classic Instruments “Goodguys Camaro Fifty” gauges, Ididit tilt steering wheel column, Vintage Air Gen IV Surefit heating and air conditioning kit, Custom Autosound stereo, Kicker KX800.5 amplifier, Kicker speakers, Kicker subwoofer, Billet Specialties pedals and Camaro SS carpeted floor mats. The trunk compartment was beautifully restored and finished in the correct style trunk splatter paint. The sound system components were tucked away out of plain sight. The Optima Yellow top battery with power disconnect switch was relocated in the trunk. The engine compartment is extremely organized and highly detailed throughout. The firewall was smoothed for a clean look and the new SS hood pivots on black billet hood hinges. It’s equipped with a new American Autowire wiring harness and custom windshield wiper motor. The car is powered by a new Edelbrock E-Force Supercharged LS3 416 V8 engine that is rated with 720 horsepower and 695ft-lbs of torque. This engine alone is advertised for almost $ 30,000. The engine was dressed with custom valve covers and a Concept One pulley system which both look great. It’s also equipped with a Concept One power steering canister, Powermaster alternator and AC Delco starter. The engine is cooled by a C&R Racing aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. The engine breathes through Ultimate headers and a polished stainless steel 3” exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. The engine is coupled to a Bowler Performance Tremec TKO-600 5-speed manual transmission. It’s equipped with a Spec Stage 3 clutch with Hurst shifter. The power is transferred to the Currie Enterprises 9” Nodular POSI rear end assembly with 3.50 gears. This car rips! The undercarriage is also extremely organized and highly detailed throughout. The underside was coated with textured paint for durability. Some would say Rhino Lined or Lizard skinned. The body sits on a Roadster Shop Spec Series full chassis. It’s been outfitted with a Tanks custom fuel tank with Earl’s filter. Some other custom upgrades include power rack and pinion steering, AFCO Racing Products coil-over shocks with Hyperco springs, Energy Suspension bushings and Bear 14” disc brakes with 6-piston calipers. The backside of the front spoiler was signed by the entire Goolsby Customs team. This car is simple yet sophisticated. It soft spoken but will scream when called upon! **PLEASE CALL MS CLASSIC CARS OWNER MARC SCHILIRO FOR A VERY ACCURATE VERBAL DESCRIPTION OF THIS VEHICLE** ***MS CLASSIC CARS only purchases number one and number two condition classic vehicles.
