I don’t recall seeing it featured in the Musclecar mags back in the day before it showed up out here in 2001 or 2002 but maybe?

Beautiful car.
What a strange set of circumstances. In 1967 Ford had the Fairlane GT - it's top level mid-sized muscle car. Was available with the 390-4V engine. But NOT the 427. This magazine ad shows a Fairlane GT and what appears to be the 427 option. But go to your dealer and try to order one - NG. |

No Tach?

8k Tach was optional and just 2” in diameter. I read in an article (assuming from Marti report) that just 2 of the 72 R code 500XL’s had the on-dash tach installed by Ford. I’m sure Gary has one-I just can’t see him drilling an NOS pad to install when it didn’t have one originally.

Beautiful car and very underappreciated among the general classic car community IMO.
Thanks for sharing. |

That's correct, but one was built.

Interesting - I see it's only the 410 HP engine and not the 425 HP dual quad 427.

Does that yellow W code 427 GT still exist or did somebody just pull the Marti Report?

I think it still exists but don’t quote me.

Found a couple detail pics of the NOS 427 exhaust system on the car for all the exhaust system geeks out there
