69 Z-28 Survivor Intake question
I recently purchased a survivor 69 Z-28 intake with original thermo housing, plugs, and fittings. The vacuum line fitting at the rear of the intake has two outlets, one for the Brake Booster and another one 180 degrees from the booster barb. What is this 2nd outlet barb used for? Possible vacuum for RS headlights? I can post some pics if needed.
Thanks, Paul

Re: 69 Z-28 Survivor Intake question
Were those 69 Z-cars available with and automatic? If so, that vac could be for the modulator.

Re: 69 Z-28 Survivor Intake question
I have a similar fitting on my 70 Z-28 for the vacuum line for the Turbo 400.

Re: 69 Z-28 Survivor Intake question
Interesting to note that there is still traces of aluminum paint on the intake. Did they touch these up on the assy line with paint? I had heard the intake bolts were painted silver possibly with a brush after the engine was assembled.

Re: 69 Z-28 Survivor Intake question
----I can only speak for mid-year Corvettes but suspect that all small-block aluminum intake engines would have been the same. At Classic Motors we bought and sold many, many cars that came to us as original and untouched. Almost all of them showed traces of silver paint on the intakes, mostly along the edge of the intakes and heads. The silver paint actually extended on to the valve-covers in varying amounts. Hope this helps.......Bill S

Re: 69 Z-28 Survivor Intake question
Charley's old (now Jason's) 1100 mile 70 Z28 showed many signs of silver paint on the intake bolts as well as orange brushed on paint on the plug wire stands if I recall correctly. Different year but likely same technique used.
