This place has some nice T/A's very reasonable priced. I hope he doesn't adjust them based on these auction results. |

Nothing magical as to why those T/A's are going for huge jack. As a prior poster noted, these were their dream cars growing up. Who cares about performance? The look alone is why these cars sold in huge numbers. Any car can go fast with internal work.
Cars like the 93, 96 & 2000 Cobra-R's will be the next to hit the $150,000 marker. Just like the 87 GNX's did before them.

When I see a 1978 Corvette pace car with the L82 engine still in the wrapper go for $50,000 at the same auction it makes me question the TA prices even more. The Corvette is from same era and had a lot of hype ever since it was built.

1978 Corvettes were a lot more money than the 1978 Trans Am and Z28. So, "everyone" had a Trans Am or a Z28, but very few people had a Corvette. That is what makes the Trans Am's and Z28's more valuable today as that was the car everyone dreamed about. I was just finished school and starting to work at that time. I looked at ordering a new '79 Z28. Then, this '72 Z28 came up for sale, Mulsane Blue, with blue interior and an M22. the rest is history.

I would venture a guess that the 1980's IROC Z/28s are the next ones to jump up in value. I had one a few years ago (a yellow '87 I found in my neighbor's yard) and sold it to a fellow member here. They are great handling cars and surprisingly quick too. The same way the late 1970's guys are looking for their highschool cars, these will be the next target of acquisition. Low mileage unmessed with examples are few and far between. So buy them up now.
Hard to believe this was 10 years ago! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbt...opics/187461/1 |

I sold it one hour after posting it in the for sale section here. I ended up selling it for exactly what I had into it - to the dollar. It was funny because I just set what I thought was a reasonable price and when I went to tally up the numbers afterwards it was exactly what the pile of receipts added up to. I should have played that number in the lottery...and asked a lot more for the car! I sold it for $8,700 in 2006. |
