VERY VERY COOL!!! Actually, I think I remember the car as a bracket racer in it's Burgundy and "ELECTRIC" '80s stripe.
On a second note, I also own a car that raced as a brand new car. My car was raced and sponsored by a new Oldsmobile dealership and then sold off of their used car lot in February 1971. While my car was not a life-long dedicated racecar like yours, it did lead a very sheltered life with only about 10k street miles. I have it re-lettered and set up as the "1969-1970" style F/S---basically the car is original and un-restored. It was just the cover and feature car of the Feb.2012 Muscle Car Review. What I'm getting at here is this:
If your intentions are to sell the car as a profit-maker, then in my opinion, a showroom-stock restoration might make more sense. However, if you are like me (and a lot of other old racers) and the car is more of a passion, and the money REALLY doesn't matter, then I would applaud you for making that car appear (and maybe even run) as it did in 1969 and 1970. True, racecars have a smaller market, but the players in that arena are a little different breed.
